WEST BOCA - Wesley Tido walked out of the door to his home Saturday morning and found his 2-year-old Chihuahua dead, its head nearly sliced off.Chichi was well liked in the neighborhood and one neighbor said he saw a man wearing only boxer shorts hanging around the outside of the Tido's fence around 5 a.m. The dog's body was taken by county Animal Care & Control for examination and the Sheriff's Office is looking for suspects.
Deputies were called about 9:30 a.m. to the 9000 block of Southwest Fifth Street, west of Boca Raton. Investigators have not ruled out that a wild animal may have killed Chichi's but animal control Capt. David Walesky said the wound appeared to be done with a cutting instrument.
"That was not a raccoon, that was a human being that's sick in the head," said Tido's wife, Edna.
The couple's children, Jazlynn, 10, and Jayden, 2, have been asking why someone would do that to the dog they got as a gift.
Chichi didn't like the indoors so he lived in a 3-foot by 3-foot plywood doghouse beside the wooden fence that surrounds the Tido home. It was toppled on its side Saturday morning and Chichi was dead outside of it. Wesley suspects whoever killed his pooch reached in for the cowering dog in his shelter.
He also suspects someone drugged Chichi.
When he tried to feed him one of his favorite meals, chicken, around 9 p.m. Friday Chichi turned it down.
The Tidoes said no one ever complained to them about Chichi.
"That dog would not bother a soul," Edna Tido said.
She said Chichi would not even disturb the night lizards and frogs who wandered by his doghouse.
Neighbors loved Chichi too and are now concerned about their children's and pets' safety.
"For me it's a big problem," said neighbor Natalino Lima standing outside with his 10-year-old daughter Nathalie. "I don't know why anybody would do that."

first of all, why do you say a liberal killed this puppy? Poor dog, i have 4 chihuahuas myself, so i couldn't imagine losing one in such a gruesome way and being a child....that is so wrong, cruel, and demented. Animals are the most innocent beings on this planet! WTF is wrong w/people???
