Town hall protester rips apart woman's Rosa Parks poster
-
-
- PsychoAlan
- added this
A photographer/reporter approached the woman on the end and wanted to see what the poster was. As the woman went to show the photographer/reporter what the poster was, a man from the bleachers stood up and snatched the poster from the woman and photographer/reporter.
As the woman went to retrieve her poster the police stepped in and escorted the woman and the man from the building. The poster was not of Obama, it was not pro health care, the poster that was taken from the woman and wrinkled up into a ball was of Rosa Parks.
National news coverage only showed the woman being escorted from the forum and left out the fact that it was the man who started the incident. Not to mention it was a poster of Rosa Parks.

Just seems to me she was the one trying to stir up racial tensions by bringing the poster to a health insurance town hall in the first place. What does what kind of health care system you want have to do with race?

Reposting kennymotown's response because your question has already been addressed.
"I guess she feels as though she is still riding at the back of the bus in terms of health care reform. There that wasn't that hard to figure out. It's a lot better than a hitler poster or drawing a mustache on an Obama poster. How could any person be inflamed by a poster of a woman that was as peaceful as MLK. But still some nut thinks so."

We already have a black president. Are people that offended that a picture of a black woman stirs up racial tensions?

I'm just saying, why is she making health insurance reform a black thing? Only blacks want a fair health care system? Being against health care reform is racist? What's up with that? Why are you doing that?

Stop deluding yourselves and maybe you will understand. The healthcare "debate" is moving along without the true involvement of the American people. There are no agreed upon principles to even begin a dialogue about details. The people know this is going to be a late-night deal rushed to the floor for votes and we are all screwed. We want it to SLOW down and build details upon an agreed foundation.
Race has nothing to do with it. Nothing. You racist leftists always play that card when you don't get your way. Truth is, Obama is the first President elected BECAUSE of racism, NOT in spite of it.

The election of a black president has really brought out all the racism that runs deep in this country. And I keep wondering what the foreign press must think of these bozos who have incoherently shouted their way onto the news. This is becoming quite a shitty country to associate ones self with.

With their hate they might manage to derail healthcare reform. These town hall meetings are dangerous and are damaging to the cause. Maybe we should put out a comic book explaining everything to them, complete with pictures. There is no excuse for the stupidity they are displaying.

I fear something similar to the Oklahoma City Bombing.
There is this racist backlash appearing. Conservatives are upset that not only do they have a president that is a democrat, but partially black. (But of course, the One Drop Rule states that if you have a fraction of yourself that's non-white, you're considered non-white altogether).
I have a feeling that this isn't about Health Care Reform anymore.

I wish they could find their abilities to reason . I think they get a high off the rage , and even if they were well informed , information before them , they would ignore all , and keep the rage . All glory in self righteous indignation , truth be damned ! Where I live they are everywhere . I don't need to watch fox to know what they say because it is reproduced so faithfully second hand at the hardware store , at the park , and from my own relatives . I can tolerate them . When they cross the line into harassment .... and they seem to delight in that , they loose all credibility .

The wilful ignorance of many of the people who are being bussed in for these town hall meetings is just so unutterably sad. They have become so wrapped up in their irrational hatred of government that they have become characitures
I watched a number of them being interviewed outside a meeting earlier this evening and was simply blown away by the bizarre coccoons of untruths, half-truths, distortions and above all utter irrelevancies with which they have surrounded themselves in an apparent effort to be certain that no actual "facts' intrude on their preconception that "the government" has personally marked them and is determined to do everything in its power to make their lives miserable.
I was alternately fascinated by their bizzarre illogic an
d terribly, terribly embarassed for them. Someday they might well become informed and will look back with horror on these peformances... - 2 years ago

cztheday it is an outrage and the fact that the mainstream media is showing this every night really doesn't stun me when you think back to the early days and years of the Iraq war when we had millions in the streets at certain events and no media coverage. Yes we can is still a great idea and we not only have to support the president but work wherever we can to get back the fairness doctrine. Right wing radio around the country out numbers left radio hours by 9 to 1. And that is a fact, people have been so dumbed down by the constant bashing by the right wing on the radio because it's all they can listen too in some parts of America. And of course the older white Americans being racist is a fact, my ex mother in law always said the n word as if she was back in the forty's. That segment is still alive but dying off.

asherp, I just read an opinion article in which the writer said her belief is that much of this anger especially from the, conservative South, is about having a black President. She also said that's what they really mean when they talk about getting "their country back". Of course they can't actually say that because they then would be called racists.

That's what this has always been about, for the most part: Racism and Xenophobia. Throughout the campaign, look at the way they called him a "Stranger," "Muslim," "Not Like Us," not to mention the persistent willful ignorance of the birthers. And they constantly say "Our America is changing... we don't recognize this America anymore..."
What they are saying is that they don't RECOGNIZE the America that is choosing to support a black president, something they never expected to see, and never thought they would have to deal with in their lifetime. They are shocked, and their collective racism is bubbling to the surface more and more...
I pray for Obama's safety daily.

Insurance agencies need to be stripped of their power and money.
Period.
$1,200 a MONTH for health insurance...?
Where does this money go when I'm not going to the doctor and I'm not sick...?
Oh.. (Looks at the insurance agent that buys a new Cadillac every year.)
I'd like a REFUND, please. I've been overpaying for at least 12 years. Where is this money going?
