    • I don't see this as a race issue at all. Here we have a guy that was a standout in professional sports. A public figure. He involved himself in sponsoring dog fighting and was caught at it. This is now an illegal activity. He was sentenced to time in prison for it. He did his time. He's expressed remorse. He's also agreed to help in the advertising campaign against cruelty to animals.

A crime was committed. The man paid his debt. He deserves another chance. Race doesn't have anything to do with it.

    • Give this piece of shit the same treatment he gave the dogs.
He didn't do this for the money, he did it to be a big man where he comes from. This activity should have cost him any chance in any level of football.

Send everyone else a message who participates in this cruel activity. It will ruin your life.

    • This is an example of poor journalism. They took out two examples of other convictions to sway viewers to think that Vick got off easy. Reality is the exact opposite.

I was listening to a lawyer from GA talk about the issue during the time of sentencing. He stated quite clearly that 23 months is a much higher sentence than usual, most convictions being significantly less than one year in jail.

What Vick did was wrong and whether two years in jail is appropriate is subjective. However, what isn't an opinion, is that Vick was made a public example of. If Michael Vick was not a public figure, his sentence would likely have been much less.
