Shatter the Silence - one voice at a time

It always bothers me how easily men can use the word rape in situations where any other word would be sufficient.

As a woman hearing these words, all I can feel is disgust for the lack of imaginative language. But there’s another side to the story, the side I don’t tell. I don’t like the word rape because every time I hear it, it brings back memories of my own experience.

Two years ago, I was raped.
