These rich people(the people Dick Armey is representing) do not want to pay for a public option or into a single payer system because they are selfish. They cite personal responsibility as the reason why people are unable to care for themselves.

Middle class Americans cannot afford the top care in this country without selling everything they own and paying for it for the rest of their lives. So they get sub-par care and when people get seriously ill, then private insurance will try to drop you as soon as you get better.

Let people accept public options so we can ALL get cared for, instead of forcing people into getting expensive insurance plans that keep raising the rates simply because they can.

Good on Elaine McFarland for being on the front lines and reporting so clearly, accurately, and in detail, the ongoing fraud and thievery perpetrated by Columbia HCA. This is what CNN needs to be reporting, as if it were a real news organization, rather than a media vehicle for inter-related corporate interests it is.
CNN: All commercials, all the time, interspersed with meaningless gossip and corporate flackery.
Maybe someday we can see a portion of the media do independent investigations into this type of "fraud as a business plan," and a U.S. Justice Department that actually prosecutes corporate criminal enterprises instead of colluding with them.

Excellent DonnaScott, you have facts and you bring more truth to this debate in a couple of paragraphs than any knuckle dragger here on the right. They seem to only bring fears, if thats the best they can do then they better be very afraid of these medical insurance and hospital conglomerates killing people with denying the best for their patience's.

Fraud Perpetrators United in Efforts To Kill Presidents Health Reform Plan

I am a retired Assistant Director of the Health Informatiom Management department in a
teaching hospital founded in1881.This storied institution , the largest private hospital in
Chicago was purchased by Columbia-HCA in1993.
Following a brief "honeymoon", their fraudelent practices began. Pneumonia was a special
focus.According to their physician and nurse trainers, all of these patients had the most serious pneumonias, any patient admitted with a urinary tract infection had generalized sepsis. Comorbid conditions that were non existent were "found" by their reviewers to insure a larger payment. This fraud was insidious, deliberate,and continuous. These fraudelent practices included the billing department also. Tests were routinely "unbundled" and billed seperately etc.
It is totally repugnant to see Bill Frist, the scion of the family that owned Columbia trashing the President's plan.His family's company defrauded Medicare/Medicaid in excess of a billion dollars , settling the case for $850,000.00.
It is most nauseating to see and hear the scurrilous Rick Scott crawl out from his greedy rock of "for profit" clinics and rail against the president's plan.He was the chief engineer of Columbia's fraud plan.I believe he might have been fired as the sacrificial lamb as this
fraud extended to all of their facilities even to home health care, so the owners were aware of it.

And now Larry King has Bill Frist on as a commentator to Healthcare. Really? Can we have a serious dialogue with perhaps the common people who will be affected. Push Back Rachel, why not goi aroudn the country to the everyday folks who do get it, who do pay too much for medicien, who do struggle with diabete like me.

It is disengenuous for Frist to talk about government Healthcare when he never denounced his families bad medicine when it came to robbing Medicare blind. I know, I saw it up close and personal. I wonder why Larry King did not ask Frist why the Nurses in Tennessee are marching against his planned gubernatorial run. If this isn't a WTF moment, I do not know what is.
I retired earlier than planned because of the constant fraudelent practices of this bunch
of crooks. The stress I worked under while HCA robbed the coffers shot my bloodpressure up. I truly thought I would have a stroke. I was greatly relieved when two federal agents came to my home the summer of 1998 to talk about this practice. The enormity of it was shocking.
Finally, advance directives, living wills DNR (do not recusitate) orders have beendiscussed with patients/families for over a decade. Where have all of these people been not to have heard of it? I am a "granny" and a medicare recipient. I know no one other than myself or my designee can have me disconnected from life support. I do not believe all of these people are so collectively ignorant.

I liked when she pointed out his views on Social Security and Medicare. He doesn't like either of them. He wanted to privatize Social Security and he doesn't like Medicare. Most seniors who are supporting the Republicans, don't realize the Republicans are really against programs that they use, like Social Security and Medicare. They stir them up with lies and misinformation, then act like they are on their side. That's just sad! They talk about 'death panels' to bring out fear. Seniors should actually fear what the Republicans really want.

'Death panels' is a calculated lie! Republicans are masters at fear and distortion. It's time to wake up seniors before it is too late! Seniors have children and grandchildren who would benefit from a public option. Many of their children and grandchildren are uninsured, or under-insured.
