Scientific experiment suggests that sexual orientation is encoded in our genes

The result was worms that “look like girls, but act and think like boys,” according to Jamie White, a researcher on the study.
The study supports the idea that sexual orientation is the result of the brain’s wiring. Erik Jorgensen, scientific director of the Brain Institute at the University of Utah, said the study “suggests sexual behavior is encoded in our genes.”
Not everyone agrees with Jorgensen, and even he admits the study is not likely to fully explain human sexual orientation. Though worms and humans share much of the same dna, the complexity of the human brain means the study couldn’t possibly answer all the questions on our sexuality.
The origins of human sexual orientation have yet to be adequately explained. Scientists argue theories from hormones and genetics to environment.

It is not a disease, uberdeft, so this is not a cure - it is intervention and manipulation. With the same technique, they could "cure" blue eyes, red hair, freckles, snub noses, long fingers, etc., none of which are diseases.

No No NO don't give in to cries of false pseudoscientists who think they know worms. Don't follow wolves in sheep's clothing who mislead you down the false paths of so-called science. Resist the urge friends. We can now make sure Steve Austin the $6,000,000.00 man is really a man. We stand on the threshold of a Gender-Corrected World.

Wow.... I am highly upset that people will probably begin to say now we can fix the gays by giving them gene-altering drugs =\... I am not against gays in anyway.. Nor am I for them.. but, whatever makes you happy I won't knock it... Unless it is something like child molestation or some weird shit...

It would be nice if we could fix the freaks who engage in pedophilia, coprophagia, bestiality with this technology. Who cares about gays?

I think this would be a great lynchpin in the argument that homosexuality is natural if it weren't for the fact that earthworms are hermaphrodites.
This study was done on sexually differentiated worms of another species?

This is a mickey and one of today's biggest modern myths: "It could have been done by looking at human genes, which has been done, showing that homosexuality is genetic."
clearly that's the fallacy homo's would want you to "accept" for their utter "helplessness." surely it would make for better appeals to a sympathizing public, IF it were true...only it's simply NOT true. In fact, it is a lie...
And an alluring myth only the homo's keep kicking around like a dead horse they hope will one day eventually get up... *shrug* but there's nothing so simple about sexuality. People choose. That's the intuitive common sense inherent in the sensibilities of most reasonable unselfish and more honest people, who also "choose" to put with these illogical specious bullshit arguments from time to time simply because some fool wants YOU to believe it for HIS own selfish "respects".
Respect should proceed from honesty and truth. Not lies and manipulation.

It always makes me wonder if the people harping on "choice" are bisexual. I'm straight and I definitely never made a choice and I definitely couldn't change my mind and suddenly be gay. Just not possible.

I agree , thebigchuckbowski , I wish i had a choice . I also think that people who repress themselves express it by hating those , like themselves , who are open about that which they repress .

Point number one: Who cares if it is genetic or not. What business is it of mine or anyone elses if a person is gay?
Point number two: Studies that show that genetics have a ROLE, but not a determining factor. This is what the studies show thus far. So let's not make statements like "Studies show that homosexuality is genetic." Echoz was correct about one thing, making false or bloated statements will only win you enemies. The truth always wins out.

I agree with both your points hammywill. Well and succinctly put. and in particular...
"...making false or bloated statements will only win you enemies. The truth always wins out."
...I wish THAT statement of yours alone would grab some MUCH-needed traction, but obviously, truth isn't respected nor handled responsibly in this particular community of liars.
And I totally agree with that great summary this title obviously and falsely intends to convey to the unsuspecting: "So let's not make statements like 'Studies show that homosexuality is genetic.'" Thanks hammywill, and not for agreeing with me, but for letting your own more objective views be known. Much appreciated here.

Echoz, you are welcome. I always think the truth should be ones only weapon. The controversy over homosexuality should not, in my opinion, revolve around whether or not it is a chosen lifestyle or not anyway. It is about whether or not it is anyones business regardless.
ANILMALIA: In your first reply you stated "It is genetic." Implying that it is genes that are the determining factor. The studies thus far can only suggest that they are a CONTRIBUTING factor, but not a determining factor. Let us not pretend that you were saying other than that Genes are what make one homosexual, in the same way Genes determine your eye color. That is simply not proven and is not substantiated by any science thus far.

P.S. Animalia...Genes can determine whether or not someone is more likely to get cancer, but they do not CAUSE cancer. So it is not genetic, though there are contributing genetic factors.
