Earlier this week, it was reported that 36 advertisers were pulling their spots, but now, that number has increased to 46. Some of the more notable companies that dropped their support areApplebee’s, Bank of America, Bell & Howell, DirecTV, General Mills,Kraft, Regions Financial Corporation, Vonage, Geico, LexisNexis', Lawyers.com, Progressive Insurance and SC Johnson.

Interesting to me...all the anti-Fox people on this website have no problem making claims as to the "fear-mongering" and "violent agenda promoting" and "fake reporting" and "lies" and everything else that Fox News promotes. Yet I have never seen anyone refute the actual stories these news shows report with real facts.
Glenn Beck spent the past week asking a lot of real question about the hidden agenda of Obama, yet no one can seem to refute his questions and suspicions with actual facts. Wonder why...
Conservatives will continue to attack policies and agendas with facts...and all the progressives can come up with are personal attacks on those who report the facts.

mgerlach, sorry buddy but you're delusional. It seems like half of my time is spent exposing lies from Fox News, and I always support my articles with factual references and links for you to visit. If you actually read them, you will find the proof that you think we liberals do not provide. Do a search on Current for the phrase fox news lies. Actually read the articles and follow the links, and stop acting like this is just liberal trash talking because we disagree. I don't care that we have differing opinions, but I do care about factual reporting.

I suggest you browse through the comments on this article. Notice how many comments include things like "liar" or "racist" or "crazy" or "blowhard" or "propogandist". Those are purley emotional comments that have no factual reference to them.
Those are the commentors I'm referring to. There are a few that refute some of his statements with facts, yes. But you have to agree that an overwhelming majority on this site are purely character bashing when it comes to Fox News or Rush or anything else right-associated, and nothing else.

I don't like Glen Beck. I don't subscribe to his views, I think he's a blowhard who loves to use scaremongering to keep his ratings up.
What I really have a problem with is...one group having enough clout to get advertisers to pull their ads.
There lies the problem.
Not Beck, not Fox News, but ONE group of people.
Freedom of speech and freedom to make a fool of oneself in public should not be controlled by one group of people.
When will ONE group of people decide they don't like what an NPR show host says? Or a Mosaic News host?
This group uses the same scaremongering tactics that repubs are frequently blamed for.
By using the same tactics, does not that make them the same?
Just a thought, folks...so don't attack me. - 3 years ago

You guys are misinterpreting what I'm saying or maybe I am not saying it all that well - when I say "You might say he informs us" - I am giving Beck's fans the benefit of the doubt - he just informs me that he is crazy.
As far as all the programs I mentioned - I support some, other people support others - no judgement here. We are relatively socialist, always have been and always will be. I lived in Australia - socialist ? A fantastic place, nice people, great health care. Been to England, France, etc - never got sick there but the people seem very happy. I don't see a big push to bring in American style healthcare anywhere in the world. In anyone has heard differently let me know.
But most importantly - please don't let Beck scare you. He is a clown, (actually I was creeped out by clowns when I was a kid)
We will never be like USSR, or Nazi Germany - don't worry you poor folks - we will drift a little left, a little right, again and again. We always have and always will.
But .......... are we a country founded in Judeo-Christian principles ??? If you think we are, answer this please - what did Jesus say about caring for those less fortunate than himself ? Where would he stand on healthcare in America ??

Putting the political stuff aside, I'm sure we are seeing history being made here. During all of my many years I can only remember seeing one or two sponsors pulling their ads from a program. And now over 40 big companies pulling ads from one program? Knowing due to Beck's craziness his audience is actually increasing thereby creating more exposure for their commercials? They are willing to forfeit profit to make a statement? The statement is that there should be a code of taste and decency in broadcasting and regardless of the increased viewers, who are tuning in just to see what stupid thing he's going to say next, Beck is crossing a line and he's being called on it by over 40 very big companies. Fox has lost nothing and Beck may be enjoying the publicity but at least the public has heard the statement.

Because we should boycott Fox News. They are owned by a multi-national corporation. Isn't that dangerous? And IF they were reporting the facts and not with such a violent agenda- cool. But, to me they are under- handed creating fear and mis-understanding while pretending to be very, very, very American. I have posted on this story a couple of times. It is that important. People need to know. And why have the laws of "yellow journalism" or like when someone yells "fire in a theatre and there is no fire." Causing terror and harm to people- that is Fox News and all the Rush nuts. Please get them off the air.

I don't think Glenn Beck is crazy, I think he just made up a character in the same way that Stephen Colbert did, but parades himself around like real news. It took him making comments about the president being racist to get a letter campaign going to advertisers, but personally I think the guy coming on the his show saying a terrorist attack that kills a couple thousand people will save this country and Glenn Beck agreeing should have done it. But, I guess I am a left wing nut.

I was in NYC on 911 and the fact that, that is even ok for someone to say IS crazy. I believe in the right to speak your mind and I will fight for any right for the freedom of speech, but when people like GB or BO talk about hurting people and killing people, that is hate speech and that is criminal. Instead of reveering them, we should be seriously boycotting them. It is not news, it is The National Inquirer for right wing Politicos -tabloid at best.

As long as the advertisers just pull out of Beck's show and not out of FoxNews altogether, Rupert Murdoch will find a way to keep Back on until it all fades away. Beck can lose every ad sponsor he has, and it doesn't matter because he knows that he still has that ONE sponsor that matters... namely Murdoch himself.

Has anyone ever seen the movie "The Last Supper?" The character played by Ron Perlman is a guy just like Beck and they all want to kill him at dinner, but then he talks about how he just plays it up for the viewers and says things that are outrageous because if he was just middle of the road, noone would watch. The danger lies in the fact that people are taking him seriously and that people actually believe the bs that he is spewing. Death panels, Obamais a Nazi, blah blah blah - I wonder how much he really believes in what he is saying? However, If we continue to watch him and support his behavior then I guess we are all to blame.

Considering that he gets an insane number of viewers, there's not a snowball's chance in hell he'd ever get canceled.
The right LOVES someone like Beck, they've been looking for a propagandist to replace Karl Rove for the new era.
Beck's perfect, he's charismatic, he's unflinchingly devoid of ANY cognitive dissonance, he's a terrific actor and he knows how to use dramatic events to pump up his message and all the while he pretends like he is a good ol' American boy who's just trying to make sense of the nation instead of the obscenely rich right-wing shill that he is.
So while intelligent people, left or right, look at this man and see right through his act, the more general public is entranced by him.
Glenn Beck is a textbook case of why propaganda works folks, because human beings are a bunch of gullible, frightened animals. And you only need to say something again and again to put enough fear into them to override the kernel of critical thinking in their heads that they were never taught in school. Then they'll keel over and do whatever you say.
Of course, these people are a significant minority as indicated by every poll out there or just talking to anyone you know on the street, but they don't THINK they are. And if history has taught us anything, it's that a fringe minority group only needs to intimidate and throw its weight around to gain control.
And of course, that is the real goal here. It was invented by Nixon and has been in use since Reagan. Manipulating simple Americans through religion, militaristic jingoism and an appeal to a base sense of selfishness which they pretend is a work ethic to create an army of right-wing zombies who will believe and do whatever they are told.

The man is an actor who gets on tv every night and fakes outrage to make people like you pee in your pants.
Jon Stewart, on the other hand, is amazingly relevant, carries insight no one else does and will say things no one else will.
Beck, on the other hand, says whatever he needs to say to pursue the GOP's agenda, it isn't about anything else. Which is why he can get on television and say the most absurd, contradictory shit day after day, because logic and reason aren't a part of it.

Rather than make blanket statement like "Beck is crazy," you may do better to educate people with specific examples. If I don't have the facts straight, I would appreciate insight. I am not so stubborn that I will not change my position in the face of new evidence.
That being said, I for one agree with his stance on the czars... they're unconstitutional. Who pays their salary? It better not come from we the people, because none of us have agreed to that (not in the constitution).
My viewpoint is that Beck is attempting to wake people up to look deeper at what their government is up to. I don't think this is something new with Obama -- I disagree with Beck there, and I can only assume it's propaganda from Murdoch/Fox. We've not had control of the executive office since 1963 when Kennedy was killed. I am surprised it has taken this long for people to begin rocking the boat.
Until people stop believing in conspiracy theories like the Warren Commission and 911 Commission reports, we're all doomed. After all isn't that what those who attack conspiracy theories say -- the easy answer is usually true. For me at least it's easier to believe that JFK wasn't cooperating so he was eliminated. The alternative is to believe that some random guy took it upon himself to kill JFK for no apparent reason. Which one sounds crazier to you? I have to say that believe Oswald did it requires a leap of faith and blind trust in the authority that created the story.Question authority with boldness! It is your American duty. Do not fear the label of "madman," for if nothing else, it will keep people from messing with you. No one likes to mess with a crazy person. As long as you know who you are, that's all that matters. Don't ever allow people to frighten you into keeping quiet -- that is precisely how they get away with atrocities.
We are all Americans, we all pay taxes, and we all deserves answers and respect from our fellow countrymen. What advantage is to to continue with this false left/right paradigm, bashing your brothers and sisters because you don't agree. Find common ground!!

I'm sure you're just making a joke, but I wanted to point that out.
About the death panels -- yeah -- I agree, it's craziness, and it makes it hard for me to come to the defense of Beck in these instances because of his associations (Fox, "right wingers," etc.). I also find it makes it difficult to argue against the health care bill with good points because they get overshadowed by people who just assume I'm a "birther" or "deather" just because I don't support the bill. I have genuine concerns about the mandate and tax penalty, and I think this is something for each state to decide, like Massachusetts did.I tread carefully. I find good points on both sides, but I do think that both parties have strayed from our Constitution and our Republic.
I am feeling as though I'm already gaining some great new perspectives from all of the debate on these boards. I hope to chat again!!

Of course the Constitution doesn't make allowances for Czars. Nor does it say anything about allowing the CIA, Social Security, FDIC, Socialized Highway Systems, FDA, Medicare and Medicaid, federal subsidies to school systems, agriculture, oil companies, solar companies - what else ? FCC, National Endowment for the Arts, the Postal Service, aid to people with disabilities, welfare, corporate welfare.
So we do the best we can - if the congress doesn't like the Czars, or if the Courts don't, they can do something about it - says so in the constitution. You might say that Mr Beck informs us - but if he is putting scary music under his "news" reports, or cutting the film in certain ways, (you go to the movies, right ?) he is manipulating you.
Stand up as a free American and refuse to be suckered in by this huckster

If people would protest the actually scary parts of the bill instead of making stuff up we might actually get something worth a damn out of health care reform... but we have Glenn Beck and Bill O to egg them on and fill their heads with nonsense, that is why I dislike the man.
If you want someone who is completely unbiased, take a look a Maddow on MSNBC... most of that network is biased... she on the other hand is not... she attacks the right a lot, but I have never seen someone on network news refute the left with such logic either.
I agree with you about the insurance mandate by the way... I am all for health care reform... but the bill that looks like it is going to pass... there are more than a few actual scary things in there. You should point them out in the health care debates going on around here.

Hi greggm04, I don't really agree with most of those programs either. (And for the record, the Post Office is in the Constitution -- "Section 8 - Powers of Congress.") I would like to see the others examined under a new light and cleaned up if necessary. One battle at a time, though.
About Beck -- oh most certainly he is a caricature, but all of the news has slowly become like that. (I'll have to check out Maddow, as you suggest MitchMann). What I do agree with, however, is his "ringing of the bell" so to speak. Even if he is using propaganda to get people to take a close look at government, don't you think it's a good idea for people to take a closer look? I do. I have been watching his show not only to hear what he's propagandizing, but so that I can speak about it amongst others. He has a popular show. I find that watching his show the night before, I can refute alot of the propaganda my friends fall for and then explain to them they way things are and should be. You'd be surprised how many people don't understand that our Constitution lists specific rights that we give to the federal government. Most people think that the government gives us rights. Most people also believe that we are a democracy and don't realize we are a constitutional republic. I find that once I get people involved with that type of discussion they ask more questions and they get interested and involved in politics. I don't claim to know all, and realize I have much I can learn from all of you here.
MitchMann, well I'm glad to have found you here as well. I have not found many people who understand why this is a bad thing -- like you say, they are all too busy making us all sound stupid with "death panels" and "pulling the plug on grandma."

Did you know O'Reilly has had the number one show on cable news every day for ten years in a row?
He did not beat O in the ratings just among one demographic group.
He did beat Hannity in the latest ratings.

He beat him in the 25 to 54 year olds demo - the point is that he is gaining momentum, regardless of the fact that he is a fearmonger and a racist. People are watching him because they want to see what he will say next. It is like a really bad car accident, you can't help but watch - and that's what scares me. I just hope people realize that he is not reporting the news or anything real for that matter, he is just generating it, making it up.

Maybe they're watching him because unlike the liberal media, this guy investigates and reports on the stuff behind the smoke screen Obama and his radical cronies have put up in front of their operation. Beck has a done a fine job lately of exposing many of these individuals, their pasts, an their intentions. He is doing some very serious investigating in to this adminstration's attempt to restructure America. He has been posing some serious questions about the need for dozens of uncomfirmed, Obama appointed czars...or the need for a civilian army....or the need for a diversity director within the FCC (who is trying to destroy conservative talk radio...so much for freedom of speech and press, huh?). Maybe you should watch with an open mind and take notice of the reshaping of America right before our eyes. That is...if you can put the Kool-aid down long enough to pay attention.

I just saw that he beat Bill O in ratings- getting 3.4 million viewers. Unless people stop watching him and believing his lies, he will be able to continue to do what he is doing, advertisers or no advertisiers.

Lady, you are being lied to, big time every time Obama opens his mouth. Thank god people like Beck have the balls to tell it like it is, Ask yourself why Obama never has a answer for Beck? Could it be there is no answer when someone is telling the truth. Hey, I'm sure he would be fine with Obama coming on his show and answering anything he throws out there. If Beck is such a liar, Obama should be able to answer the questions. Ah, wait, no telepromter can be used when you have to talk man to man. He won't have a answer with out his buddies being able to white wash everything.

This whole issue is another fine example of Democrats being unable to handle criticism. Van Jones is the co-founder of the group "Color of Change." When Beck started digging up dirt on Jones, who is a radical in his own right (by his own admission), Jones couldn't take it, and had to find a way to bring him down...in true Democratic fashion. His organization has launched a viscious campaign to Beck's advertisers in order to make them pull their spots.
Unfortunately for them, Beck had some of his highest rated shows ever this week and the advertisers simply switched to different time slots on FNC. Glenn Beck's not going anywhere.

And look @ the list of advertisers and tell me this surprises you it's all Barry's, excuse me, Barrack Hussein's bankster buddies and their insurance cronies and Gov contract fanatics. I think it's funny. The Truth is such a hard pill to swallow especially from a self centered egotistical shits like the ones in the white house.

What is wrong with your statement- President Obama did not take lobbyist money during his run for President.
Freeing him to take on major corporations who are having way too much power on our well being.
But, when you have a news group owned by forgerin corporations (Rupert Murdoch) and they are giving false information as truth- we got a problem.
And again, (PBS Bill Moyer) reports the quarterly bonus of the insurance companies CEO's- 9-30 million dollars!
That is crazy. And wrong. And they are winning if we are not rallying for each other. You and me and our loved ones are sufferin. - 3 years ago

See, this what is odd- we finally have a poltican(President Obama) who did not accept any money from lobbyists. He is taking on the corporations who robbing you and me blind, Starting with health insurance companies which has caused great harm. We all know the stories either a family memeber or friend get sick and they have insurance and it is not enough and they are left with nothing, sometimes loosing their home.
We rank 34th in healthcare Cuba is 35th. Not because we can't help but becasue in the last 10-15 years our health insurance co. are making record profits by denying services and charging outragous amounts of money and we can't sue them for withholding care.
You and I need to be united so we can kick these corporations out of our government. There are many in the congress and senate who are receiving "blood money" really- and here we are with a President who is ready to stand up for our rights to healthcare.
And then Beck is ranting- I went back and read the transcripts and he asks the President to answer his questions but he NEVER asks a question. He makes a statement that is not based in reality and then paints a very unreal scene. And many of the folks on FOX have openly stated that they want our President to fail- that is illegal- we do have free speech but- there are laws against yellow journalism and threating the President. Fox has done both and what is sacry is Fox is owned Rupert Murdoch who is not an American. What a great way to divide our country. So all I want is for you me and every American to be safe and affordable healthcare and protections of our rights And then, start working on the banking and credit industry. Be well, - 3 years ago

Don't these advertisers understand. Fewer commercials won't get him fired. It just means he has more time to misinform his viewers.

I just heard on the news this morning that he beat Bill O in ratings getting 3.4 million viewers - the advertisers can continue to pull out but unless Fox pulls him off the air, he can't be stopped. Keith Oberman calls the people that listen to him as "Beckers." Let's just hope that they are in the minority. The thing is, he should be able to say what he wants, but when it starts to become hate speech and Doctors are being killed and people are actually believing the lies, then it becomes criminal. Fox should take responsibility for the fact they have him on but until people stop watching him, then he will continue to do what he wants.

Obama can't stand criticism so his green jobs czar, Van Jones, has used his organization, Color of Change, to launch a campaign to deter his sponsors from Beck's show. Sponsors are just switching to different time slots on FoxNews...and Beck's ratings have soared. Obama fails again.

It's ok for Obama to call a police officer in Massachusetts a racist, but one guy calls Obama racist and the left wants him gone. Why is is also OK for Pelosi and other Dems to call anyone who disagrees with Obama a racist too? Why the double standard? Bunch of hypocrites if you ask me.
