The World's most violent city

Image

Ciudad Juarez is a major Mexican city on the border with the United States, 1 and a half million inhabitants and a strong economic integration with neighbour El Paso, Texas. But unfortunately the city is known for his appalling crime rate that has made it the most violent city in the world. The Mexican president has sent 10,000 soldiers of the army to maintain order, but so far the results seem poor.

    • This should be taken as a real war. Bring in NATO, take out the civilians, and kill whoever is left and the problem will be gone in under a year, if they do it right

    • we have a large military base there, and Mexican soilders? how far have they built that wall up yet. And the strong economic intergration? What non visa drug trafficketers. And why is the ElPaso Base the only place US 18 year olds can drink beer? Lets buy Mexico and have it our 51st state, so then we can send our Countries new kids to war, being drug soilders they have the basic training, and were running out of our, equal turns for every one

    • If 10,000 troops can't bring order the next step should be 20,000, and then 30,000 if necessary. If the cartels want to kill then give them a real war to fight.

    • Boy, how most everyone likes to group these issues together. Weed, meth, rock cocaine, crack, heroin, all the same.

Well they're NOT the same genius.

Some of them are dangerous and some of them aren't. Do you know which is which? Until you do, then you're invited to shut up. Until you have an opinion you can justify then spare us your bullshit .Crap is free but I dislike having to wade through it on current. Yea, I'm tallking to you Liberals, and all of your ilk.

Until our federal government gets it head out of it's ass this will remain exactly the way it is. Leave us pull no punches. Obama could unite this country with a single executive order. He chooses not to do so.

Until he does we'll play this. Mexicans will die. Americans will die. And nobody will give a shit. Except the families.

      congratulations.

No, you're right, they're not the same. But decriminalization is a useful strategy. It's not the only piece of the puzzle but it's one very important step to ameliorating the situation.

      See Portugal.

    • let's not forget about the killings of all the maquiladoras by the corrupt factory owners. so much more than drug cartel violence occurs there.

y'all should check out the movie Bordertown w/ jennifer lopez. it completely highlights this issue.

being latino, it's completely sickening to think of how it's our own people close to home commiting these truly unforgivable crimes. having the "most violent city in the world" status isn't a surprise, but it's just unpleasant to realize.

You don't have idea how markets work, do you? When you legalize something, the black market of cartels no longer has a monopoly. Honest individuals sell to one another. The cartels are broke, and the violence ends.

Yes and no. The cartels will have less power, but they will want it back If it ha[[pens, then i can guarantee that the cartels will either adapt very rapidly, or become one big militia and do something very stupid and very dangerous

Weed? Hilarious! These drug wars aren't fought over weed. While I'm a proponent of legalizing weed, the greatest problems with drug prohibition has nothing to do with weed. I live in Northern CA. You don't need shit from Mexico to smoke weed.
