Binyam Mohamed: I will fight for Gitmo prisoners

Binyam Mohamed, the former Guantanamo detainee, has reversed a decision to stay out of the public eye by signaling his determination to campaign for justice for prisoners at the American detention camp and highlight the lifelong effects of torture he suffered at the hands of his interrogators.

Six months after emerging as a frail and ghostly figure from the plane which brought him back to Britain from the US military prison in Cuba, Mr Mohamed last night used his first public speech since his release to explain the legacy of his seven years in detention, which he says included his "extraordinary rendition" to a prison in Morocco where his penis was repeatedly cut with a scalpel to force him to confess as an al-Qai'da terrorist.

That's okay, Mr. President will appologize and it will be all better.
Did you know all of our prisions are full of convicts not guilty of the crime they commited? Ask some prisoners, most will tell you they didn't do it! Even though they were standing over the body. gun residue on their hands with the dead's blood splatter on them.... I found him like this.... I was giving him mouth to mouth, honest!

    • Yet these "people" were being held for terrorism, not just picked up for going to mosque on Saturday. Why do we allow these monsters a voice ? When their victims never had one, nor will they ever, because most are dead. Some of the people on this site are so stupid.

    • Good for him. It's time to stop denying the injustices that are taking place and take measures to ensure those responsible are punished for their crimes.

    • Why doesn't he "fight" against the muslim countries like Morocco, Pakistan, and Afghanistan where he was held captive and where they actually cut his penis.... Seems suspicious that he would only criticize the US when in fact the worst of his alleged tortures took place at the hands of his muslim brothers... is anyone else curious as to why he isn't fighting against those countries?

He won't gain publicity and support for speaking out against those countries. It's too trendy right now to scream for Bush's head on a stake, and there's enough impressionable morons in this country that will eat every word that comes out of this terrorist's mouth.

I think it's pretty clear American interrogators were the ones doing this...since they were the ones interrogating him and holding him captive for 7 years without any charges.
