@ kstein
Your words:
****@ Delia look in the tv guide, "Textbooks in America" the report also had the Muslim schools here funded by Saudi Arabia {new Jersey} They discredited a Muslim contributor to Hill Macraw publishers. It time you look and listen for yourself instead of challenging eveyones comments.****
Do you mean McGraw-Hill? Perhaps you should learn to read, yourself, and quit spreading rumors based on misinformation and half-truths.
Textbooks teaching future scientists that the world is 10,000 years old? I have a freaking problem with that! The Republican majority in Congress since 1994 and the Republican Presidents since 1968 have made sure corporate America can dumb down the populace to extract even greater profits.
When you boil down unfettered Capitalism to the most advanced form of a "free market system", it becomes Corporations on Steroids or "the law of the jungle".
What makes any of you "Radio Rightyland/America Love it or Leave It" shoutdowners think we can just do away with needed regulation and that corporations won't just want MORE freedom to be predatory?
In today's world, there are plenty of corporate slugs who NEVER think enough is enough when it comes to money.
They will not rest until there is a ruling class and a slave class and a para-military hired class to keep the slaves in line.
Does anybody really want to get into a battle for fiscal fitness and superiority with Exxon-Mobil or with others of that ilk? When you try to lobby your congressman do you think you'll have the same effect as Exxon-Mobil will?
If so, you are all dumber than dirt.

I have to add a comment here that I think might open some eyes. As I have made mention in some previous posts here, I have a 17 year old student from Germany that is living with our family, when I asked him how he came to choose the state we live in he said " I wanted to live in a state that I thought would be more welcome to someone from another country and not be maybe angry that I was here. I told my father that I thought that I would not be welcome in some of the states like Texas, Oklahoma or Arizona. " when I asked him why those states? he replied that in reading the news "They seemed to be politically hostile and have extreme religious views"
This young man is one of his country's very brightest kids, they have to have what we call a 4.0 grade average to be eligible for this program. He is fluent in English, French, and is taking Spanish here.
Now this kid has no axe to grind,he gives us an unbiased view of how an extremely bright European citizen views us. His father is in the import export business and encouraged him to come here and learn our culture because he is grooming him to take a place in his fathers company, not because they think this is some kind of paradise.
He was telling us about the enormous crowds that greeted then Senator Barack Obama in Berlin and how the talk was that it appeared that America was finally coming to it's senses...by the way, Bush was another reason he felt he would not be welcome in Texas..".they seem somewhat backwards"..in his words.
Anyway, take this for what it's worth, sometimes I think it's a valuable lesson for us to hear how we are perceived by those who have no political agenda.
I would encourage anyone to host a student from any country, it's an awakening to see how shocked they are by our waste and obsession with food. Our lack of public transportation and how lax the standards for school are...trust me it's not very flattering. Constructive criticism is how we get better at anything we do. - 2 years ago

This is what you get when political figures start messing about with school material.
It can might as well happen the other way around (pro-liberal), but i don't think that's going to happen near Texas :D

"It time you look and listen for yourself instead of challenging eveyones comments."
I am simply asking you to provide sources for your information. I don't think that's too much of a challenge! Muslim schools, just like Catholic schools or any other private schools, can teach what they please, for better or for worse. Are the schools you are referring to private or public?

it wasnt about the Muslim schools, it was a PUBLISHING CONTRIBUTOR to Hill-Macraw, a Muslim who was discredited and the TEXTBOOKS need to be rewritten. the show was called 'TEXTBOOKS IN AMERICA." yes I also believe private school can teach anything they want, however in this report the city refused to issue building permits to expand. My message has been clear, read the issues.

muslim schools as in private muslims schools?
i think private schools can teach whatever the hell they want, (as in, Liberty University).
also, is your point simply to note that there is religious influence being exerted by the muslim community as well? no one would attempt to justify that either you know. so if it's just a "it's not just in texas" statement that's well and good.
maybe clarify your comments a little more?

"Approved textbooks, the standards say, must teach the Texan student to "identify significant conservative advocacy organizations and individuals, such as Newt Gingrich, Phyllis Schlafly, and the Moral Majority." No analogous liberal figures or groups are required, prompting protests from some legislators and committee members."
Seriously, how can people be complaining about Obama "indoctrinating" kids through ONE speech when they are peddling this biased crap IN the school system?
"A bullet point on "women and minority employment" as an economic effect of World II caused "one member" to gripe "there is too much emphasis on multiculturalism."
Jeez!

Why would he? It's not a debate, it's a friendly speech to children. I doubt highly that it's message will be political at all- but I heard the transcript will be released Monday so we will see then. When in history has a President talked to school children and allowed "rebuttal" time from the other party?
