Paratus if you like church involvement in the Govt. you would love taking up residence in Iran...
Most of us look at theocracies over the centuries and say no thanks!
The founding fathers were very aware of the depth of corruption and abuse of power that comes when you have religion entwined in politics...can you imagine Jehovah's witnesses deciding that celebrating a birthday becomes a crime? I've noticed that the people who are all up for prayers and such being okay in govt. yet totally freak OUT if that prayer would be to Allah...see thats where the wicket gets sticky, you guys are cool with religion as long as it's YOUR religion, but if it is something other than what you practice it becomes unacceptable. Well, for those of us who practice no religion any of them involved in making us obey their primitive rituals and practices is unacceptable.
Look to Ireland to see what a volatile mix religion and politics is when not everyone is of the same brand of faith. - 2 years ago

Someone tell me what this has to do with the mythical "separation of church and state" which gets bandied about as a Constitutional limitation but does not appear in the Constitution.
Go Jindal. He is hated by douchbags.

um yes they did. though i cant find the article on this site to post a link to, which had plenty of petty comments, you know damn well that plenty of people got real uptight about obama taking the air force one helicopter to new york for a broadway show. and if your wondering how i feel about that occurrence, the man was still pretty fresh into this first term as president, he has tons pf cleaning up to do, so if he wants to live a little and enjoy some of the perks of his job, i say let him. Its not like W dicked around on vacation all the way through until 9/11.

Yep and the public mocks him for being a "hypocritical, ignorant puppet monster"... and by the way, which church? certainly the state can not be linked to all churches? I bet it's the same church that prays Obama dies... The same church that reads a perfectly good bible, full of all kinds of insightful wisdom that teaches to "judge not"... yet at the same time the pastor has perverted the wisdom, and mislead his flock into believing that praying for negative things will do any good....
I thought you're supposed to pray for those who use, and misuse you, and are misguided? Pray that they'll find wisdom, peace, and salvation...
But hey slow death, salvation it's all the same....

Go Jindal! 2012! And you think Dear Leader has no flaws? (Besides a humanist/ atheist rag is going to be biased, so I'd have to do some research before I believed anything from this rag...........)

Charles, your support for that folksy creampuff frightens me.
It frightens me because you either agree with what Jindal says, or you disagree and support him anyway because Obama is your personal antichrist. - 2 years ago

OK. With Jindal being a conservative, Indian American AND a Catholic, I support him 100%. Re: my parents, yes, I commited high treason after switching party affiliation. We "agree to disagree", as it is wise never to discuss poltics around the house. :D

Jindal should no better than to take all these private helicopter trips at taxpayers expense.
Big mistake that will continue to haunt him and cramp his political career.
