Remembrance

I am sick of the 11th of September. Not of the memorials, services, and other honorable things that happen on this tragic date, when those two towers fell, but of all the hate, blaming and vilifying that seems to go side by side with the mourning.

Since the day after the tragedy, everyone was bombarded with theories, rumors, "Facts" and thoughts about what really happened, why it happened, and how it happened, but some seem to lose sight of the fact that it just did. Can we please, for the sake of all those people just stop and remember, without all the blame.

There were a total of 2,993 deaths, including the 19 hijackers: 246 on the four planes, 2,603 in New York City in the towers and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon. An additional 24 people remain listed as missing. A total of 411 emergency workers who responded to the scene died as they attempted to rescue people and fight fires. The New York City Fire Department lost 341 firefighters and 2 FDNY paramedics. The New York City Police Department lost 23 officers. The Port Authority Police Department lost 37 officers, and 8 additional EMTs and paramedics from private EMS units were killed.

Please, please, please. Can we all just stop and remember, not of the controversy, not of the hearings, and not of the follow on, but can we just remember the loss of life that day, when the echo of the fall of those towers was heard all around the world.

Do not post if you want to post your political views, you theories, or your indignation at the process, just say you remember, and will always.

I for one will never forget that inescapable day on the 11th of September, 2001.

Rest In Piece, all the lives lost to the towers, including those 411 heroes who ran towards the flames. We need more people like that in this world. They didn't hesitate, or judge, or think of their own lives, they ran towards the flames. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight.
