The thefts happened between Sept. 2 and 3 at the home of businessman Richard L. Weisman on Angelo Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
An employee arrived at the home Sept. 3 and immediately noticed the artwork missing from the dinning room walls. The worker then went to a neighbor's house and called police.
Among the stolen collection were 10 pieces made between 1977 and 1979 depicting famous athletes, police said. A portrait of Weisman was also taken.

The funny part is they stole this picture that the "investment broker" paid warhol to do of himself. The guy tried to buy his way into pop culture fame. LOL. What a jackass. I hope they burn this one.

So now the paintings can be only seen by one person and his immediate family. What's the difference? The guy was too cheap to buy a good alarm system, but not too cheap to buy the paintings. So he took a risk. Boo fcuking hoo. He must be a member of some cheap group of cheap-ass people or some cheap-ass stingy greedy culture. Wonder who that could be.

Sounds like an insurance scam to me. Crap like Warhol isn`t in demand at all. The owner was probably a little short of cash.

Usually high profile valuable art which is stolen only has buyers within organised crime circles. That's perfectly logical: it's a commodity with a large value, it can't be sold openly, but it can be traded for goods of similar value.
Which is rather fitting really and a good ultimate destination for highly commercialised "art" artefacts such as these.
But as Diode says; moving on. - 2 years ago

I'm thinking there is a buyer some where... The people who stole this art either have no idea what they have (and are completely FUCKED, in which case they should destroy them or ditch them) or they did it for someone with a lot of money.
I'm betting on the second option, but maybe I've seen to many movies.

It sounds like this was a private collection that was stolen. Most of Warhols prints are multiple runs of the same prints. The prints you saw were probably not the ones that were stolen, but they were likely printed at the same time. I got to see a Warhol show this year as well. I love his work.
