On 12 September 2009, concerned people take to the streets, their motto: "Freedom not fear".
A broad movement of campaigners and organizations, from journalism clubs, trade unions, environmental and peace organizations, tech-groups to the youth alliance of the catholic church has been calling on everybody to join action against excessive surveillance by governments and businesses.
The annual demonstration is embedded in a global campaign of peaceful and creative actions, from protest marches to parties. In 2008 similar protest marches took place in many capital cities:
