Well, Goldman Sachs is in charge of creating Life-backed securities, where Wall Street buys grandma's life insurance policy, bundles it up and sells them across the world as stocks. This time you don't just default and get kicked out of your house, you DIE.

Wall Street is developing a product that packages life-insurance policies into investable bonds, and the plan already is generating controversy, according to a media report Sunday.

Investment banks expect to buy life insurance policies that ill and elderly people sell for cash, then package hundreds or thousands of them into bonds. Institutional and other buyers would be the primary buyers of these bonds, receiving a payout when people with the insurance die, the New York Times reported in its online edition.

With $26 trillion of life insurance policies in force in the U.S., the market for these "life settlements" bonds could be immense, the Times said.

Investment banks stand to profit from the creation, sale and trading of the bonds.

    • There's one thing I just don't understand about these guys...

      isn't 1 billion enough? Like, do you have such a hard time living without 25.999 trillion dollars that you think selling lives are a good idea?

    • I realy wish the greedy fools who presume you can build wealth by getting something for nothing would wake up and realize that unrestrained Capitalism is evil. It has corrupted and perverted every good thing in our society. The idea that greed is good is proof of that. Money was invented as a practical means to regulate the objective of achieving human needs. But these greedos don't have their money, their money has them as slaves to their greed. I'm glad Michael Moore is going after Wall Street after doing an expose on health care. Human health care has been perverted into a way for lots of "industries" to profit from the misery of others by drawiing blood like leeches. But those "sickos" are only afflicted by maladies of the body. These sickos' affliction goes much deeper. They have a sickness of the soul. They
      will do doubt go more and more off course until the road drops out from underneath them altogether. I could almost care about them. I wonder though how many innocent people they'll fuck up and take with them when they go.
