OPINION:Can Smoking Marijuana be Considered a Religion?!

if everyone smoked pot maybe there would be less violence in the world because everyone would be so stoned

.I believe that it could be. And have seen its many spiritual benefits. (exp. Alcoholism and demon drug addictions like crack,haroin,crank, meth ext.) are to me the demons way off taking your (gift of free will) to make good choices in life. But god has supplied a weapon for all that the demon can throw at you. "I have seen pot free many people from alcohol for more than 20 yrs.(alcohol is the #1 demon drug in the world and destroys more lives and families than anything on earth including wars.) I tell crack heads and others if you get the cravings. Do not act on that, relax and take a couple puffs on a marijuana cig. But like anything out there it also can be abused. So in moderation. It will help you. (It's not substituting believe me.) Also young minds should not indulge, until your mind((25 yrs or so.)Unless you were raised with a Since of Responsibility.)) had time to mature. Because it will stunt your emotional growth. But as far as freeing you from a demon drug, dual pain, relax hyper individuals. And much more good things. Including help reverse mental illness. Now you have to remember. That the un-mature mind will turn it into something bad. (grow up ass holes) It’s a tool from god.

Hell yes. Its the closest i Get to a religion I truly feel at peace and in a meditative state when i consume it.

But to answer the title, No I don't think just consuming cannabis could be considered a religion in itself.... Still it does have a place in religious and spiritual beliefs.

With that logic, I consider drinking Evan Williams bourbon to be a religious experience. If anyone tries to extinguish my religious liberties by forcibly taking away my fifth of bourbon, I will pray to the god of firewater that fire and brimstone may rain down upon them! "Officer, dancing on top of a picnic table under the guidance of The Great Spirit is a part of my religious worship!" :)

Maybe not a religion but a spiritual belief. Psychedelics would be the same way. Every so often doing a little mescaline or shrooms, used for spiritual purposes. Cannabis could be the daily spiritual dose, then on the solstice you could do some peyote.

Mind altering drugs can be used as a great spiritual tool.

Shades of Robert Heinlein. He said, and to my understanding, a religion can be pretty much anything you want it to be. The question isn't what constitutes a religion as much as it is defining the line where it's not.

I mean if you want to solemnly rub blue mud in your belly button and claim religious experience who's to say you'e wrong? If they define the difference between a religion and a cult then that equates to declairing what a state religion is. And this is a topic the constitution orders them to stay away from.

Course there's a difference between public acceptance and your right to act like a nut. But this is maybe an idea that could take hold. The Chuch of the serrated edge? Holy Smoke? A lot of tokers would probably join something like that just for a hoot.

Wonder what would happen if you had a church full of followers who every sunday insisted on their religious freedom to sit in church and burn a dobie as part of the service? Refreshments in the basement after the service.

If you go into with the right mindset, just about anything can become your religion. Just look at Jediism.

Unfortunately yes. Many addictions, even more healthful ones, can take this kind of importance in a person's life.

Finally a religion I can get behind.

exactly Jubal, if we all smoked weed maybe we would all get along. Oh sure there would be the occasional fights over the munchies but that would be about the worst.

I consider it a religious experience. Smoking it should be protected as a free exercise of religious liberty.

Especially if Evangelical gun toting apocalyptic right wing nuts can run around terrorizing everyone with their ignorance and fear, I certainly think that Cannabis should be legalized to counter balance their efforts.

The Rastafari consider it a Spiritual use of cannabis.

So I would have to yes to the question.

A lot of people smoke for many other reasons though.

I religiously smoke it. Thats close enough for me

And I'm always praying to God for a healthy crop.
