The relationship could be due to the fact that communities with such religious beliefs (a literal interpretation of the Bible, for instance) may frown upon contraception, researchers say. If that same culture isn't successfully discouraging teen sex, the pregnancy and birth rates rise.
Mississippi topped the list for conservative religious beliefs and teen birth rates, according to the study results, which will be detailed in a forthcoming issue of the journal Reproductive Health.

as stated in the other post re: this point, we should be honest and say that 'religious' here means predominantly christian and roman catholics.
in answer to the first post condoms were banned by a celibate 70y/o pope in rome--you will not find condoms in any catholic hospital, school. i really don't know how they teach sex-ed, but it can't be comprehensive. - 2 years ago

i read somewhere that the egyptians used an animal's dung as contraception way back in the day. but wait! that would mean that people even way back then enjoyed having sex without having babies! thats crazy!!
just another example of why religion doesn't work.
people have been having sex for pleasure for as long as we have been on the earth, and i dont think that the bible toters are gonna do an ounce to change that

its true, and also stupid to tell kids not to use a condom!
where in the bible does it say not to use one?contraception wasnt invented 2000 years ago, so how can you take that as a rulebook for new technology now.
i think that alot more people will look down on you for having a daughter who was pregnant at 15 then one whos used a condom before.
another reason why i lost faith in america as a nation :/
