I guess the alternative for this family is simple......... go broke.

maybe this is the part that really irks:
"uninsured Illinois residents under the age of 19 can qualify for the state-run All Kids insurance program. But not all of Brianna's providers accept All Kids because the program's payments are generally lower than those from other insurance plans."

and we're fighting to keep systems like this?

    • Thanks for sharing your story Cassandra! My prayers goes to You, your Family and Your Sister. When an individual fall sick, he or she should never be obligated to be or play an attorney, lawyer or a financial accountant with piled papers forms and bills. That will definitely add to the patient stress and the stress will contribute to his premature death. The only solution for this America Health Death Panel dilemma is to form a National Non-Profit insurance/investment company to serve the people of America. You get sick, you go to the doctor or hospital for treatment. Not other thing will be asked from you except the simple questions about you and your medical history and condition.

    • My family Had health insurance when my sister had a catastrophic event that has left her in a wheelchair for the last ten years. She's been in and out of hospitals and I have seen things in that time that I would not have believed could happen in America because of health insurance.
Like a man's wife in an ICU with a swollen brain, who was transfered from intensive care because their insurance ran out. She died soon after and the man ran around the ICU, insane, accosting the other families in the pain of his loss. Is this what our country has become?

    • • There will never be a single payer healthcare system in America. Americans do not trust their government even though they freely elected their government. They would rather trust an insurance company than their freely elected government. It is okay for an insurance company to delay or deny their claim. It is okay for an insurance company to cause their bankruptcy or death from delayed or denied claims. But if a government run healthcare system funded by tax dollars gives away a free band aid to someone who didn't pay taxes that is far worse. Americans will never have a single payer healthcare system like most of the modern free world already has because Americans are stupid. Any politician who proposes a single payer system will die politically.

    • The American people need to wake up for the fact that health care and insurance Corp of America will never, ever work. That was a mistake from the beginning and now we must cut the serpent's head or die alone. The people needs to have its own non-profit insurance owned by the people for the people and not by the Corp of America. The insurance Corp are not your friend and they will never be your friend because they will never understand that you are not a product for profit.

We have great minds among the people. I am sure we can start our own no-profit Insurance totally owned by the people with a Constitutional Body of Rights. Part of the money will be invested in non-risk operated business to maximize capital. It is a form of Public investment Insurance.

You are not going to feed an unscrupulous pirate that in turn will run with your money and seat in a desk somewhere planning how to kill you so you do not claim the money back.

All of these companies are putting prices on people's lives. Having a non profit organization that simply helps the way they should for doctor bills, and who does not try to hoard all the capital and money as if it was granted to them, would resolve this problem. This will surely take a massive amount of time and ratification, but it is all necessary.
The people need to be educated enough to make good decisions when dealing with insurance and even the housing markets. They need to know how these things are run and understand what they're signing and when. There are just too many people who do not look into the most important patterns enough.

Even car insurance companies are theives. It is a constant fight no matter who the client is, because these companies have gotten away with far too much in the past due to this ineducation.

    • WOW. Insurance Companies need to be reformed, that is one of the roots to our Health Care crisis. First, the hospitals charge insane amounts of money for their practices. Secondly, these insurance companies are retaliating so they don't have to pay, which is the exact opposite they run their business for.

My mom almost died of Ecoli this summer. Thank God they saved her, but it has been a constant battle with the insurance companies. They tell her she shouldn't have let the doctors do this procedure and that one, when she was on vacation miles away and was so sick she had no choice and no energy to ask them anything!!!

Every insurance company that i have seen does not cover their clients even remotely the way they should be. That's our hard earned cash!!!! Theives....
