    • The Zionist controlled mainstream media has used it's influence to demonize Ahmadinejad every time it can. The last time I checked it wasn't the Iranian military that dumped white phosphorous on the Palestinians or other country for that matter.

Also, the guy didn't "deny" the Holocaust. Here's a recent interview with Ahmadinejad, with the rest of the media didn't cover.

      ***

On the Holocaust, and specifically what he would say in New York, the city with the world's largest Jewish population, to Jews for whom the Holocaust is a personal memory:

"Of course I care about the people of New York, and American people in general. With regards to the question of Jewish people and their sentiments I have to say that in our opinion their issue is different than the issue of Zionism. Zionism is a political party. But the Jewish people, like many other people, follow a divine prophet. I fundamentally raise two questions regarding the Holocaust, and I can ask them here again from you. I think that if you attempt to answer my question we might move a step forward in answering the question. The first question is that assuming the Holocaust did happen, where did it exactly happen and who were the perpetrators? The second question is how exactly does that connect to the Palestinian issue?"

When told the Holocaust was perpetrated in Europe by Adolf Hitler and a group of his compatriots:

"So I would like to know how then does that this relate to the Palestinians, and the Palestinian issue. If this indeed happened in Europe by the hands of European governments, why exactly should the Palestinian people pay for it?"

When asked if he agrees the Holocaust occurred:

"In my opinion it is not the first part of the question that matters but really the result of that question. The first half relates to history. The second part relates to contemporary world affairs. ... In your opinion if something has occurred in Europe by the hands of European governments can we seek remedy for it in other lands and territories? Is it the Palestinian people that should be compensating for the act through becoming displaced and why? Or through the occupation of their lands, and why? Or through the mass murder of these people, and why? Through genocide of these people, and why? These are some clear-cut questions that we have too.

"We are opposed to the killing of people wherever. As a fundamental rule we are opposed to the killings that occurred during World War II, wherever. We know that over 60 million people were killed in the course of the Second World War. Each and every one of them were human beings. And their lives were, are respectful, no matter whether they are Muslims or Jews or Christians. Really, it doesn't make a difference..."

"...From where I stand, I wasn't there 60 years ago, we weren't there, but we are here now and we can do something about it. We are alive now. And what we see are Palestinians being killed. So I think today it is our task to stop that. ... If the Holocaust is being used as a pretext to kill the Palestinian people, then inevitably it's also necessary to discuss the Holocaust...."

    • It's quite astounding how many of you are going on about the holocaust happening or not.

If you watch the video he quite clearly acknowledges that 6 million Jews died which is part of 58 million civilian deaths. His question is why are people so focused on just the one group of people when 52 million other people from various backgrounds and faiths were killed as well.

His other point is that the holocaust caused the displacement of the Palestinians even though it was the Germans that killed the Jews and other non-Aryan people. Why are millions of Palestinians paying the price for what Germans did?

Again. Why are people focused on the 6 million yet pretty much disregard the 58 million?
Why should Palestinians suffer due to the holocaust?

Welcome to the elite few who actually know what they are talking about. The trolls here didn't ever watch the Iranian president's interviews, they just parrot off what they are told. They think building seven just fell for no reason kinda like the parrot's head falling off on dumb and dumber. You can tell them anything and they will believe it, as long as you have the news in your pocket. The truth comes down the pike and it gets booed away like a dixie chick.

    • Ok guys,

I'm taking the lockdown off of this thread. Let's keep the discussion focused on the issues being debated, not the people debating them. It might not be a bad idea to brush up on our community standards (http://current.com/s/community_standards.htm) one more time before posting a response on this thread.

    • If there is one thing I do see eye to eye with Ahmadinejad ist is that it is a moral obligation to confront the evils of Zionism.

You just can't stand by, silently, while real live Nazis dump iincendiary weapons of mass destruction such as white phosphorus on an unarmed population of defenseless Palestinian Christians and Muslims.

    • "Confronting the Zionist regime is a national and religious duty."

"This regime (Israel) will not last long. Do not tie your fate to it ... This regime has no future. Its life has come to an end," he said in a speech broadcast live on state radio.

"Our belief and creed ... remain that Israel is an illegal entity, a cancerous tumour, that must cease to exist," he said in a televised address.

And this monstrous genocidal thug is coming to speak again at the UN.

"We will continue to confront it decisively in the future."

And this from the country that does more business with Iran than any other in Europe. About 150 German companies are swilling the trough with Iran.

    • I flagged maasonova's comment and was told it is not hate speech. So according to current Holocaust denial is not hate speech. This is moral blindness and very serious indeed. The terms and conditions need an overhaul.

This from funnicus 'I'm jewish so fuck you.'......it makes no difference whether you're Jewish or not. Denial is denial. Chomsky, Finkelstein, Klein and so on are all deranged self hating Jews. Finkelstein is even the son of survivors but plays the Holocaust down and hangs out with Hezbollah who have said they wish all the Jews would gather in Israel so they can wipe them out at the same time.

    • I sit in shock and awe every time this topic comes up. People have the right to their opinion I suppose. So am I to understand that applications like photoshop and After Effects have been around since the mid to late 30's? I feel like my whole Art School education has been a complete lie.

My question is when you run into a survivor or their immediate family, do you first call them a liar, or do you ask them to explain their "claim" and then laugh before calling them a liar.

    • the final solution is on par with bombing raids?
6 million systematicaly killed over a series of years is the same thing as a bombing run?
its like saying the heavens gate cult was as tragic as sept 11th.
why do you say 2 holocausts when you deny the existance of the holocaust.
by your supposed historical facts wouldnt gaza be the only one seeing as the nazis didnt create one?

    • So which holocaust do you deny? The important one, which your news denied you? (they were busy for 2 weeks straight covering the "hudson plane crash") while Israel was perpetrating a holocaust on Palestine. Funny that Al-Jazeera didn't cover the hudson plane crash much, they were covering Israel bombing UN relief and medical supply buildings, and designated "safe spots" they told palestinian women and children to congregate in. Should i mention the USA provided white phosphorus munitions they showered on random neighborhoods which burns people alive chemically? And given the recent holocaust, why continue the distractions with the old one and the other tools of psychological manipulation?

You're right, Israel pulled some pretty fucked up shit during that flair up. You should also realize though that there were a lot of young people in Israel that spoke out against the violence that was happening. Perpetuating the one-sided rhetoric of either side is not going to bring about peace. People standing up to their governments and refusing to be pawns in their games will.

We know the facts and he knows we know the facts. He's just being a asshole because he hates Jews. I can't imagine why a Jew would take his side but I guess it's possible.

saying thier was no holocaust isnt bravery its a defect that prevents a person from recognizing when thier understanding and ideas arent complete enough to espouse.

    • This is not a guy I would normally defend, but the editor insertions give me some pause.

if they are removed it reads:
"The pretext for the creation of the Zionist regime is false ... It is a lie based on an unprovable and mythical claim,"

is it confirmed that he was actually referring to the Holocaust? I thought this problem was settled in Iran years ago when there was a conference for holocaust disbelievers and a bunch of holocaust survivors showed up from an ultra orthodox sect that did not agree with the creation of Israel and pulled out some serious LART.

I'm not saying the man hasn't gone back on himself, after that disgusting election farce nothing would surprise me, but it may be worth checking.

    • funnicus - What an insult you are to the Jews and their families who suffered by the hands of Hitler. Incidents well documented by the accounts of invading armies, the victims themselves and others. Records made by the German army along with photographs and witness testimony at the Nuremberg trials offered undeniable proof of the facts of the occurrence of the holocaust. I don't know what your objective is but you are wrong. bielski's comment said it for me: ". . . and so are a number of vile commentators on here showing their ass to the world with their stinking small minded Jew hatred".

    • The Holocaust, Genocide Some Facts and Figures....
These numbers come from R.J. Rummel, a political scientist at the University of Hawaii who studies mass killing.
Rummel's genocide figures are more inclusive than some--in fact, he prefers the term "democide," which he defines as "the murder of any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and mass murder." Genocide is killing due to ethnicity, religion, or other "indelible group membership," whereas politicide is murder for political reasons. Democide excludes deaths due to war (36.5 million between 1900 and 1987) and reckless but not purposely murderous government policies--for example, the loss of over 20 million Chinese during the famine of 1959-'62, which was caused by the failure of the Great Leap Forward.

Defining terms this way puts the Nazi slaughter in perspective. The following are Rummel's 12 most murderous regimes (from his article in the Encyclopedia of Genocide, 1999): (1) USSR, 62 million deaths, 1917-'87; (2) People's Republic of China, 35 million, 1949-'87; (3) Germany, 21 million, 1933-'45; (4) nationalist China, 10 million, 1928-'49; (5) Japan, 6 million, 1936-'45; (6) prerevolutionary Chinese communists ("Mao Soviets"), 3.5 million, 1923-'49; (7) Cambodia, 2 million, 1975-'79; (8) Turkey (Armenian genocide), 1.9 million, 1909-'18; (9) Vietnam, 1.7 million, 1945-'87; (10) Poland, 1.6 million, 1945-'48; (11) Pakistan, 1.5 million, 1958-'87; (12) Yugoslavia, 1.1 million, 1944-'87. Three additional "suspected megamurderers," as Rummel puts it, are North Korea, 1.7 million deaths, 1948-'87; Mexico, 1.4 million, 1900-'20; and czarist Russia, 1.1 million, 1900-'17.

      Rummel goes on to identify the top nine killers: (1) Joseph Stalin, 43 million dead, 1929-'53; (2) Mao Tse-tung, 38 million, 1923-'76; (3) Adolf Hitler, 21 million, 1933-'45; (4) Chiang Kai-shek, 10 million, 1921-'48; (5) Vladimir Lenin, 4 million, 1917-'24; (6) Tojo Hideki (Japan), 4 million, 1941-'45; (7) Pol Pot, 2.4 million, 1968-'87; (8) Yahya Khan (Pakistan), 1.5 million, 1971; (9) Josip Broz, better known as Marshal Tito (Yugoslavia), 1.2 million, 1941-'80.

    • hitler used concentration camps because he was also in a war with everyone and shooting six million once costs six million amunition rounds.
in attempting to kill ALL jews he didnt want it to fail because he lacked the supplies to do it, no less the man power to dispose of the bodies considering he needed them for war.

the concentration camps were the model of efficient killing
ship them all to the camp sites, make them build them(to the point of death) then ship in more to keep up production so there will never be an issue of not being able to contain all of them.
the idea being that once camps are built up so big then they can simply ship jews in and imediately exterminate never lacking the ability to dispose of the populations they were conquering.
of the jews not fit for construction :
the ones they could exterminate quickly(according to the progress of camp building) they would the rest made supplies for the nazi war effort saving them money and manpower in terms of national manufacturing
speaking of traditional wars this doesnt apply hence the geneva convention.
what was done to the jews wasnt an act of war, war was just the backdrop to a genocide. the jews werent availed of the option to cease fire or accept defeat as war provides

Yeah, hey Bailey, why didn't hitler do it like the jews did to the egyptians in their 1967 war? They made them dig their own graves and made the next in line bury the others. No wonder they say never to forget the holocaust, it's the base for their modus operandi. Maybe hitler should have ordered a kill-o-matic from ronco? God knows germans didn't have knife technology or know about jugular veins.

    • So let me get this straignt.... you folks think that Hitler was so stupid, that he thought the way to kill people was to build "camps" for them, then issue them clothing, then medicate and feed them etc etc. Then he sneaks them into the "showers". Ok, but that would be a first in all of history of any warmonger choosing that method of killing the enemy. Customarily, a bullet in the head is used. The "showers" were de-lousing chambers for their nasty bedding and clothes. The so called "poison gas" canisters were found at all the labor camps, because they were used to de-louse.

Why can I doubt the lunar landing and not be a nasa hater, but if I doubt or even question circumstances of the alleged "holocaust" I get called an anti-semite nazi??? HUH?

And guess what, it takes two to fight. The jewish people seem to get into a lot of fights god bless 'em. They must just be fun to pick on huh?

People (Jews were many of them, but others considered undesirable were also rounded up) in concentration camps were given clothes, bedding, etc, and not all of them were killed in gas chambers. Some were killed in more horrific ways. Starved to death slowly, promised food if they performed labor, but not given as much in calories as they expended to get the food. That's why you see pictures of Holocaust survivors that look like walking skeletons. I had a survivor speak in one of my classes in college. One question I asked him is whether or not he still practiced Judaism. He told me that he lost his faith because of the Holocaust, because after seeing that happen he knew there could be no just God.

I am how ever not retarded any one that does not beleave that the Holocaust did happen is is just plain sick maybe even a little demented. the only thing I can think of that is any where near the ballpark is the inslavement of the human race. even that was not as bad as what they did to these people they were used as I hate to say this but they were used as Guinepigs for so called doctors to do with as they saw fit there were no limets to what hell they did to these poor souls. I have read many books in my younger days about the things that happen to these people and even today it rolls my stomach. To say it never happen is just Insane. Regarding your second point, he DID acknowledge that 6 million Jews died. He simply asked why do so many people focus solely on the Jews when over 50 million other people died. Yes, many were soldiers but not all of them.

Over 1 million Iraqis died in the past few years and they were not all soldiers, but that's just collateral damage, right?

I went on to ask you what you meant when you said 'Try not to fall for the propaganda.' Could you explain that, please?

On your other point, I suppose we focus on Jews during WWII because it was a systematic attempt at genocide. But you seem intelligent enough to know that, so I'm assuming this was your sleight of hand attempt to change that to the United States involvement in Iraq. (I am sickened and shamed to see the death toll in that country - but I am surprised you turned the conversation from Ahmadinejad's views on the Holocaust to America's involvement in Iraq.)

    • Governments and organizations always use rhetoric to get listeners or readers to believe one thing over another. For instance, "Holocaust is a lie." is a NOT an exact quote but the poster put it that way to illicit a certain reaction.

Try not to fall for the propaganda.

    • Why does Ahmadinejad keep saying it never happened? I would love to see the reasoning behind his comments. Seriously... if someone knows, please do tell.

he says the holocaust didnt happen because anti semetism is so rampant in that part of the world anything hes says thats anti-jew gains him political points not just in iran but in other muslum countries of the world.
its like when our leaders say freedom is a fundamental right, our people eat it up as do our allies.
a standard tactic of these people is to bait thier enemy into attacking
we the us fell for it in iraq and afganastan, they win by getting us to force feed them infidels(us) to kill

    • Once again I see dumb people. Whether or not Israel should exist is a different issue. The Holocaust did happen there is no question about that. The millions of Jewish and non Aryan people murdered by the Nazi's can never and must never be forgotten !!

I've heard that Andrew Jackson did quite a number on the Cherokee, forcing them to relocate from as far as Georgia to what is now Oklahoma. Some have even accused Old Hickory of genocide, citing the thousands of Cherokee who died on the "Trail of Tears." What I want to know is, how does Jackson rank among practitioners of genocide? Does he even make the all-time top-ten list? I figure he has to come in way behind Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, the Turkish triumvirate Talat, Enver, and Cemal (who orchestrated the Armenian genocide), and the recent Hutu leaders in Rwanda. Can you think of any others who rank ahead of Jackson?

Nocturnus - The trail of tears was horrible. 16,000 men, woman, and children forced from land their ancestors had occupied for thousands of years. 1/4 of them died on the march. I had a high school teacher that claimed Andrew Jackson was the greatest American president because he had character. He was aware of the statistics on the trail of tears and still felt this way. I just can't comprehend how people like him and Ahmandinejad can think the way they do.

Nocturnus, where is Harry Truman in the article? He bombed two huge cities full of innocent men women and children. (not one city, two) A cowardly act of genocide even in today's terms. Guess if you can't fight fair, just nuke their children and they will surrender.

That was a war. If the country in question starts a war, then it is the responsibility of the president to bring that war to a stop with minimal loss of U.S. life. Truman had to take into account how many american lives were at stake. War is not fair and never will be. If a president takes the oath of office it is his responsibility to take quick and decisive action aginst all combatants arrayed against our nation. If Bush had been true to his oath Tora Bora would have been a smoking raidioactive hole in the ground fifteen minutes after the world trade centers came down. Would have shown that part of the world what true terror is.
