CNN) -- Large crowds gathered in the Iranian capital Friday to march in an annual pro-Palestinian rally, among them thousands of green-clad supporters of the opposition movement, according to CNN sources in Tehran.

The Quds (Jerusalem) Day rally, in support of the Palestinian people, is observed on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. This year, the rallies were particularly tense, following the unrest over Iran's disputed presidential elections in June.

Opposition supporters near Tehran's Revolution Square chanted anti-regime slogans on one side of the street while regime supporters chanted pro-government slogans on the other side, witnesses told CNN. A line of uniformed police officers stood between them. See photos of the Tehran rallies »

Opposition supporters chanted "death to the dictator," the witnesses said. Many held up the victory sign with their fingers painted green, the color adopted by opposition candidate Mir Hossein Moussavi.

    • Thank you Bielski, for your bravery and the way you bring to light all those stories that the haters of freedom try to keep hidden from the public light. The haters are so afraid of serious, scholarly research and scrutiny.
      God bless you!

    • Aren't these the same people, Mr. Obama was slow in helping? Maybe Mr. Obama is against Palestinians. So, is he against Muslims???

Somehow, the fundamentalists always have time for hate, even when they are being persecuted. We have a song here in America, "Love Will Keep Us Together." So, in Iran where the government is pulling so many people off the streeets and making them disappear, they still have time to complain about the sweet Palestinians and their plight.
In Iran, they only have to change the first word of "Love Will Keep Us Together" and then steal that song, the way the "Palestinians" stole the land from the Jews of the Holy Bible.
      Hate will keep us together.
Woops, they changed many parts of the Bible they didn't agree with, and used the rest to call it The Koran. So, the fundamentalists probably changed history to show that the Arab Moslems had that land first. (Even though the Jewish People had that land since the Lord God King of ALL, gave it to the Jewish People two thousand years before the first Muslim was ever born). By the way, when Mohamed was 40 years old, it was in the year 610 AD. 600 years after Jesus and 2,000 years after Moses. Yet these Iranian protesters want the Palestinians to get land from Israel because the United Nations made a mistake and gave that land to Israel. Of course, they would never protest to the U.N. because that requires bravery. Obviously, this is a march of hate, blood and death. It is the usual, typical, expected, "Hate and Kill" speech that all the terrorists work themselves up about.
Ooooh, I better watch out!! Mr. Obama's freedom of press police are going to be inspecting my opinion here.
      Oh, I almost forgot...!!
      Remember the old divert-attention trick?
Here is what happened on Wednesday and Thursday.
Yes, here are the records of only two days while they are protesting and screaming about the innocent, wonderful, non-violent Palestinians, here is what happened in the other hidden and all too real news. ABC and CBS and CNN and NBC seem to have missed these reports also, but they found time toreport on the anti Jew protest....

2009.09.17 (Peshawar, Pakistan) - Two members of a family are kidnapped and tortured to death by Sunni hardliners.
2009.09.17 (Pattani, Thailand) - A Buddhist laborer is among three civilians shot to death by Islamic terrorists in separate attacks.

2009.09.17 (Mogadishu, Somalia) - A dozen African peacekeepers including three Christians and other civilians, are killed in a devestating suicide truck bomb attack by angry fundamentalists.

2009.09.17 (Kabul, Afghanistan) - Civilians and soldiers are among the dead as a Shahid suicide bomber detonates along a city street.

2009.09.16 (Bagur, Egypt) - A 63-year-old Christian is stabbed to death by a rampaging Muslim crowd.

2009.09.16 (Tungawan, Philippines) - Moro Islamists murder three people by throwing a grenade into a village.
