Of the many stories we hear and read about people, there are some people who are great in a big way to African students. These people leave their countries and go to Africa to do God’s work; in the process, they change people’s lives and help others in a special way. Some of these people are priests. One of such places they served at is a small town in Cameroon - NSO and St Augustine’s College in particular. Here is a story of how two men brought happiness in a small village community.
Priests who have served at St. Augustine's College in particular and Nso in general since the 1960s, none has endeared the Nso people as much as Reverend Fathers James
Nielen PhD and Anthony Barnicle MSC. While Nielen was the pioneer Principal, Builder and Founder of the School, Tony was not only the Pioneer Science Master but has been ranked the most renowned Scientist since the school was founded. Fr. Nielen was Dutch and begged from the Dutch Government the huge funds with which he built the school. Fr. Tony Barnicle, however, was of mixed American and Canadian origin. When Dr. Bernard Fonlon came in to beg for science equipment from the Canadian Government it was Tony who took the application to Ottawa. Instead of getting only the equipment he begged for funds with which he built the science block.
