Are the atheist billboards a good idea, or a waste of time?

Humanists are not Atheists, it's a small but important difference.

These signs are good in that they fight the idea that everyone is somewhat religious. They put one up in my area and some Christian think tank got their own. Theirs asked why atheists hate America. Sigh.
Religions make me sick.

I've been there, it's a college town that is pretty "subversive" kinda like a miniature seattle or portland. I think they will fit right in next to their theatre that only plays political documentaries and their coffee shops that are lined up one after the other...

I would say that these billboards may be beneficial to those whose atheist beliefs are 'in the closet'... especially in conservative states.
I remember being a 16 year old, Missourian, atheist who kept my beliefs to myself because I didn't think there was anyone else like me.
Seeing a billboard like this in my community growing up may have at least given me some comfort by helping me understand that I wasn't the only 'oddball' in my city.
