Air America: Republican revives racist Obama-as-monkey campaign theme

Case in point:
At a Values Voter Summit on Friday, Former Minority Whip Roy Blunt told the following story about British soldiers and monkeys to illustrate how Republicans have to deal with the issues the President brings to the table:
"Almost from the day the first ball was hit on this golf course something happened they didn't anticipate: monkeys would come running out of the jungle and then grab the golf balls. And if it was in the fairway, they might throw it in the rough. And if it was in the rough, they might throw it -- they might throw it back at you! And I can point to great and long detail about how many things they tried to eliminate the monkey problem, but they never got it done.
So finally for this golf course and this golf course only, they passed a rule and the rule was, you have to play the ball where the monkey throws it. And that is the rule in Washington all the time. "
Amazing...

I'm half Japanese. I rode the school bus one time and this little white boy says he doesn't want to sit next to this Jap.
What did I do? Did I use that to hate white people? Did I automatically think that all little children who were blond and blue eyed as demons from hell via this one misinformed little KKK child? Did I go to a Yellow Panda's meeting and shove my fist in the air and chant hate phrases and justify it under the oppression of WWII in America? Which, by the way, I was not a part of.
Did I cry foul when there was not a Japanese American to pick from as a President? Did I scream racist for the Democrats and the Republicans because they didn't nominate a Japanese American?
I may not be the holy racist card paying black person, but I do know what racism is, thank you very much and when I see it I'll say something. But until then shut up and stop screaming WOLF WOLF WOLF because that's all I hear right now.

Simply because humans of America have been surrounded by racism for too long, and can easily spot racism other times not, in this case it could be made clear that recently, most presidents are to be made of by an monkey......Why monkies? - 2 years ago

So from now on every time someone disagrees with me or hates on me because of my opinion they are a racist. They, because I can predict the future, will not have good reason to disagree with me. They are just doing so because they don't like me and my new race. They can't accept that a new race can form out of the blue and they have no respect for a race that isn't part of the normal fold.
Don't worry this will give me great press and popularity among all who are part of my race...namely: ME.

J_Jammer:
Former President Clinton says,
he can "sympathize with" fellow former president and Southerner Jimmy Carter's statement that an "overwhelming portion of the animosity toward President Obama is racially motivated."
"If you're a Southerner and you fought the battles, you're super sensitive of any manifestation or discrimination based on race. But what's driving the opposition to President Obama on health care is not race. Some of his opponents have racial discrimination in their heart. But that's not what's driving them. What's driving them is they don't want health care. They don't want the government to take care of people who are ... left behind."
----------------------------------------------------------------What that means is that if you're from Mississippi and used to having most things go your way and they don't anymore, you're probably hyper-sensitive of anything that has anything to do with race. You're going to always be on the defense trying to defend racism because it's the accepted norm for .You're probably still pissed that you have to pick your own cotton,(figure of speech for punching the clock) while watching those uppity Blacks, (like me) live in nice homes, and drive nice cars, send their children to nice schools, that Governors Bull Conner, George Wallace, Lester Maddox, and KKK Imperial Wizard J.B. Stoner tried to keep us out of for so long. You redneck fucks should see how pretty my house and my wife is. I work from home.We go to Coffeehouses and bookstores on the weekends. My dog has pillows and bones all over the house, other people cut my lawn for me. I'm probably more conservative than I am liberal, except for the fact that I believe in freedom justice, and equality for everybody, even though I had a cross burned in my front yard as a child. Hot damn things are good JJ.
Things aren't turning out quite the way your Daddies planned them, are they. There's a new Sheriff in town. Get used to it boys.

I don't think most of these debates are grown up at all. The only thing on here that is worth while and mature is the post by Tyr. On every page about racism you find they turn into these trivial fights about who and what party is more racist than the other and people who shout atop there soap box contradicting themselves by attacking someone who comes off as "uneducated". Keep that circle rolling and maybe we'll end up right back where we were. Evolve.

Kenny,
As you know I view myself as an independent and don't care for either party. I think progress will come only when these two corporatist entities are replaced.
When I hear Dems saying that Republicans are racist, I ask them about their tolerance for Byrd. I don't mean to be offensive to any Dems in asking my question (or to piss off Neocongo in any way). When I hear Repubs slamming Dems for being anti American, I point out the service that Dems have rendered to our military and this country.
It is my naive and simplistic hope that people will get over their party allegiances (particularly those that are blinded by it---and I think we both know people like that) so that we can have progress.

I will say, this story is more a testament to the pathetic Republican leadership and their subsequent poor handling of politics rather than a racist play.
The story itself makes sense when dealing with the issue. They view his proposals as something that they have to deal with, obviously in an effort to show that they are working to promote their own goals, but are being sidelined with these issues. It gives the impression of strength. Now obviously within the past few weeks people have been bringing up race a lot. That is why it is idiotic to make such a story visible now, but yet he chose to do it i.e. poor leadership.

I don't know. The Republicans have made a calculated decision to play on the nation's fears, ignorance and hatred. It's actually gaining some traction. 2008 was not the real test. Bush has screwed things up so badly that the Democrats had to take over. 2010 and 2012 will be the tests. Do the American people embrace fear and take a sharp turn right? Or do they reject hate and cast the Republicans into exile opening the door to a new party? If American history is any guide, the Republicans have a sound strategy and the Dems should be worried.

Kenny I think you have a great plan, I think those of us on here who have been aware of the few, who will go without naming at this point need to be marginalized and we need to reject their defense of the racists the same way we would not allow that filth in our homes.
The sad thing is that ugly monster of racism in our midst just won't die. This reminds me of the situation that existed at the end of WWII when the black G.I.'s came home from the war and thought surely, now that we have fought bravely against a regime that embraced official racism, surely now we will be accepted as equal. How could a country that has just fought a war against racial superiority continue those same policies that it had fought against? ..Well, they found out as soon as they got home..nothing had changed for them, their bravery was hidden, such as the Tuskegee airmen,....About 1,000 Americans of African ancestry completed their flight training at Tuskegee Army Air Field. Despite initial obstacles, 445 went oversees as combat pilots in the European Theater of Operations, North Africa and the Mediterranean. Flying "bomber escort" and ground attack on 15,533 sorties between May, 1943 and June 9, 1945, the Tuskegee Airmen compiled an enviable record. None of the bombers they escorted was lost to enemy fighters, they destroyed 251 enemy aircraft and won more than 850 medals. Their record was not without losses, however, with sixty-six Tuskegee Airmen killed in action. While stationed at Freeman Field in Indiana in 1945, the men were told to sign an order establishing a whites-only officers club. He and 100 other Tuskegee Airmen refused to sign. He told his superior officer if he couldnt enjoy the privileges of being an officer, then he shouldnt be one.The group was spirited off the base. A camera hidden in a brown paper bag captured a picture of the group that ran on the front pages of African-Americans newspapers across the country. They were arrested for disobeying a direct order by a superior officer, an offense punishable by death in time of war.
The charges later were dropped but a letter of reprimand, stating they were a discredit to their country and their race, stayed in their individual files until 1995.... Fifty years it took us to acknowledge that outrageously racist act!!! Bring this forward to 2009 a man of color that has graduated from Harvard, been president of the Harvard law review and now elected to the presidency of the United States...surely now, now they will be accepted...no not actually, the openly prejudiced as well as the closet racists continue the old traditions of their daddies and grand daddies.... like I said that monster just won't die.

I love it.
Make up a poor excuse to ignore people and use it in a general sense and then feel justified.
It's apparent it's only created to make you seem logical and even and yet anyone with a sense of intelligence can see this is just an excuse to runaway.
I guess if those that were officers in the WWII American Army were so mistreated they must have had families back home who were in concentration camps of the American Variety. You know the one that told them it was for their own protection. The one where they STOLE everything that families worked hard to keep. The one where they had to live in even though their sons and fathers were off fighting to protect America.
The one that was only for one race due to the vile attack on an American Territory.
If you are going to play a victim card....you better have the worst victim example. Or you might as well not play it at all.
It is disgusting that you'd bring up anything about race when there is no reason for you to do so.
It is disgusting that people are using it at all. People predicted that such an excuse would be used by supporters of Obama if he won the election. Why you'd play into their prediction is beyond me. There is no reason to even bother with playing into their hand.
There is no reason that this is helpful and it only makes matters worse than they ever were. You can blame others for the damage that is being done, but you have your own hand in it every time you WRONGLY accuse someone of being a racist....
....and that is a gross sin against history.
