Al-Qaida release video message saying Barack Obama will be brought down by Muslims

Al-Qaida marked the eighth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington with a video message tonight in which it predicted that Barack Obama would be brought down by the Muslims.

In a two-part, 106-minute tape recorded in Arabic and released on militant websites, Osama bin Laden's righthand man, Ayman al-Zawahri, likened the US president to his predecessor.

"America has come in a new, hypocritical face. Smiling at us, but stabbing us with the same dagger that Bush used," said Zawahri. "God willing, your end will be at the hands of the Muslim nation, so that the world and history will be free of your crimes and lies."

      I think you know better than that. I can hear the theories already: 1) This was a set-up between Obama and his "Muslim cronies" to try to create a perception that Obama is at odds with Muslims -- but just long enough for Obama to win a second term, or 2) This is really just a falling out between two Muslim factions...the one represented by Obama and the one represented by Al Quaida, and, of course 3) Article? What article?

    • Interesting, but for some odd reason, not surprising. I mean seriously, do we dare to comment on what they are actually saying? If the Chinese were occupying our country, don't you think the religious leaders from the US would be making similar proclamations about their leader?

      I'm not trying to lessen the threat either. I think it's real. I can't imagine how I would feel if the Chinese were doing to us what we are doing over there, but it doesn't seem like Americans are capable of thinking about those things. It seems like we fall in line with the fear that was set in place with 9-11, and we don't dare look behind that event and ask questions when our government takes our tax dollars and our children for two wars that they simply have not justified. I think people are afraid that if we ask too many questions, then we might get another 9-11, but at some point, we have to make this stop. No one else is going to do it for us. We are responsible.

      I was deeply moved watching an Anthony Bourdain episode about Laos, Cambodia -- 4 billion pounds of explosives dumped on that country in a "secret war" and up to a third of these bombs never exploded, and they litter the land today, 30 years later, still killing and maiming the population. But then there is the other underside to US activities abroad, and that one ties right in with the war on drugs. If we don't demand accountability from our government, who will?

      What the hell are we doing in Afghanistan?

      We are in Afghanistan because George Bush fucked up. He forgot to protect America in its time of need. He was friends with the Bin-Laden family, and too many high powered interests/interest groups. He picked his battles, and lost the nation to what we have today. In this environment, we have chaos in some regions, peace in others,..but mostly fear or each other, which bring in capitalism. For all those people who still support McBushies actions, they will one day see how wrong the whole situation of the last 8 years came to be....economically, mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

      Russia was in Afghanistan for 10 years.....and gave up.....history has taught us nothing.

      us? i dont think so. them. our government. it's ridiculous, every now and then they'll throw us a bone allowing us to vote on the most minuscule of things and all but as for the big events like wars and tax bailouts (that's our money that's paying for golf trips and GM to make more cars that people are obviously not buying!) they might "listen" to our opinions on big issues but completely disregard them.

    • If not for the U.S. Armed Forces which is the main reason America still controls the world, I think Muslims would be the power holders. I think their would be more order if Muslims controlled the world, would be like the old days without power, money and greed which is killing us slowly? Some insight?
