The FDA has been a trusted, government-run agency that regulates the health and safety issues of our food, drugs, and insecticides since the beginning of the 20th century. Well, in the days of late, the FDA has been discouraging us from trying a new product on the market that could irrefutably save millions of lives...

An electronic cigarette or "e-cigarette" is a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by delivering a vaporized liquid nicotine solution. It is an alternative to smoked tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. In addition to nicotine delivery, this vapor also provides a flavor and physical sensation similar to that of inhaled tobacco smoke, while no tobacco, smoke, or combustion is actually involved in its operation.

    • Electronic cigarettes are really becoming the best alternative in smoking. Many have tried the nicotine patch and gums, but it was not intended for long term and it did not gave them satisfaction and just made them go back to smoking tobacco. Many have tried the e-cigarettes, including myself, and I'd say that with this e-cig, my life has been at ease. I don't have to worry about the carcinogens, and the toxic substance that are present in regular tobacco.

yet your icon is a bong?
if you do smoke, and analog cigarettes are legal, why not allow e cigs? no one under 18 is supposed to be sold them. Pot is illegal ..is that right? Don't really want any ones approval. Just to be let be. Any way as far as nicotine being in inhalers it already is.
Live and let live. I don't want to take your pot nor booze away from you.

    • There have been many studies done on e-cigs, including an FDA study, which showed (if you take the next step and compare e-cigs to a tobacco cigarette) that the e-cig is much safer than smoking tobacco and generally has the same amount of TSNAs (tobacco specific nitrosamines) as the FDA approved NRT products. Their finding of approximately 1% DEG (diethylene glycol) shows the need for better quality control in manufacturing. Please note: DEG is found in tobacco cigarettes too. Other testing shows that the effects of nicotine on the human body are generally no worse than caffeine.

E-cigs should remain on the market and legal for adults to purchase while complete testing is done and submitted to the FDA for approval. They are a reduced harm product and do not fall clearly into any category the FDA has set up for regulation. With technology comes innovation. Laws take time to catch up. Please do not put the e-cig into a black market status! The FDA will not be able to approve these without lengthy testing and research. To date, the FDA has not banned them. California law should not supersede the FDA without any evidence they do any harm.

E-cigs are a tobacco alternative and many choose them as a healthier way to deal with their nicotine addiction. They are not inhaling the 4000+ chemicals found in a burning tobacco cigarette. Existing NRT products have not worked for the people who are using e-cigs. E-cigs are keeping them away from burning tobacco.
