The global climate wake up call

JanforGore
My message to world leaders:

This is a moment of moral introspection. This is the action that will decide the fate of the human race. In one action we can show the world that humanity has truly evolved to understanding the meaning of respect for this Earth and give our children a chance at a life of sustainability. Or through our failure we can show that humanity has failed in its purpose for being on this planet: to preserve it in order to preserve ourselves and to see through a higher consciousness that there is something more important than us.

Humans to this point have done all in their power to exploit the Earth for material wealth at the expense of a wealth far greater: Our forests, our oceans, our water, our seeds, and our health. Through this exploitation we have seen the depletion of our oceans, the destruction of our climate balance, the pollution of our land, air, water, and food, and the decline of common decency and humanity through war. Climate change is the greatest challenge we now face on this planet. However, instead of acknowledging this and working together to solve it, we are once again allowing political divisions, lack of political will, greed, and selfishness to keep us from doing what is morally necessary to sustain our species and those that cannot speak for themselves.

We can no longer allow these distractions to cloud the vision of a better world for us and those to come.

It's time to WAKE UP.

    • great wake up page...by conditioned schooling and government the world has crawled along being exploited by greed and domination of others thoughts and natural human rights...
Now the engagement of all is sought to re-ddress the situation we now find ourselves in..and make demand of all governments to come together on not just this one climate change issue..but all issues that affect our governed planet..
These issues should be addressed today, not for a farseen future date..but an immediate response and should be addressed at a Global community level..not a singular government process..for we all know that governments are great at disscusion..but not clear on conclusion...
We are in a global crisis that demands nothing less than global efficient response...all the technology for new fuel systems..transport..materials for improving everyones lives are today available..there is no excuse for holding back these technologies at an affordable price for all..only of course the War machine..and the greed of companies already draining the planet...
Thank you Jan for allowing me to connect up a small thread to your page...lets try and shine a new light in the world...

    • what we demand as a global community now -- what our politicians decide to recognize with real action this December in Copenhagen and through an international climate change treaty -- will be the result of the greatest test on humanity and our systems for sustaining a healthy existence.

    • The time to act is now. We can no longer afford to argue about the issue. The arguement is over. We need real solutions and fast. I refuse to believe that we are powerless to change our environment for the better. I am sick and tired of the naysayers, apologists, spammers and disnformation purveyors.

We have the ability to forge a new world built on principles of protecitng our children's future and the generations yet to come. What kind of world will they inhabit. Whether its going to be Mad Max or Eden, its entirely up to us.

    • How about this: Those who have a message to world leaders on global climate change and want to tell them to WAKE UP, do it on this thread. Then in 24 hours I will take this link and send it on to the UN, the White House, and any other government offices you wish it to be sent to. Let's send world leaders a wake up call from Current.
