The Presidential Double-Standard and What Being Presidential Actually Means

JaminDime
What does being presidential mean? Do you agree with the article's author's idea of what it entails to be presidential--or anything he says for that matter? Is Obama calling Kanye a jackass unpresidential?
How much of a jackass is Kanye?

    • I agree to some extent, but I still think the president should be entitled to his opinion so long as he doesn't govern with it alone.

    • well its on somebodys record cuz its right up there, on the damn record. the president doesnt catch breaks, he should be the most scrutinized person in the country, because he is in charge! This is a country where we have the right to not cut the prez a break, we are paying him plenty of money, as well as trusting our billions of tax dollars to him and his cronies, we have to bitch him out when he calls some insignificant prick a jackass! Its uncalled for and childish. And this isn't the first time! Remember the whole Gates/Crowley thing? He butted into a local matter and called a police officer "stupid" in so many words. Its none of his business and its a waste of precious time he needs to enact his "change," and I doubt we will ever get a cent of that change.

    • its the dumbest shit ever... its like if bush called britney spears a jackass when she shaved her head and attacked people with an umbrella. its not the president's job to comment on that shit. we pay him to work hard and better our country, not to be a god damn celebrity. thats all obama wants

The thing is, it was an off-the-record conversation. If we can't cut the president a break for not being a guarded and paranoid person whenever he's talking to someone casually then we are really in trouble as a country.

Now if Obama said something like, "What Kanye did was niggerish," well, that's a whole other animal.
