    • Of course, he has to keep up with the "right wing extremists" his homeland security secretary keeps telling us about.

    • I am not one to defend obama, but based on the recent stopping of a plot to bomb a new york subway using provisions of the patriot act -- we need to be able to tap calls being made to al quaeda or people are going to die.

Oh hell Monte, thats a big switch for you. I never thought I would see you advocate for the patriot act. I'm at a loss for words. Are you the real Montesooma?

I hope this is only a momentary lapse of reason on your part.

no i just dont suffer from Bush derangment --- the actual role of the federal govnment is the common defense.
They just nabbed a scumbag who was going to bomb the new york subway --- they caught him because they tapped the phone calls he was making to al queda in the middle east. He was an illegal and doesn't have any right to privacy in my mind. I don't want more citizens to die at the hands of scumbag militant muslims.
I am not for government keeping tabs on ordinary citizens and i think they should obtain the proper warrants. Having said that im a little worried about what the current administration might do with this power and who they might see as the enemy --- maybe anyone not loyal to their agenda.

    • Obama says he's about change but it all feels and looks exactly the same...He says he brings hope and i "hear" it..but i don't "feel" it...
Just like the last administration the words being tossed around by each side of the political party don't reflect the actions...
This is no different...The patriot act brought the most unpatriotic laws into existence.I'm sure with Obama's Justice act even more Injustices will be carried out in the name of protecting us.

    • I wonder if anyone is actually shocked at this "new" administration.Obama talks about moving forward and letting go of the past yet he pulls these "Bushey" scare tactics.I hear they're even going for a new name..."The Justice act."... this isn't the change i hoped for.All of the healthcare reform "talk" is fine and dandy but real change would be about freedom and peace, after 8 years of growing oppression and war.Instead of bringing water to replenish our thirsty and malnourished country which would in turn replenish the world,Obama is just more hot air caught in the breeze to fuel a greedy fire.
