There is no doubt in Weaver's mind what happened to Bill Sparkman: "He was murdered. There's no doubt."
Weaver told the AP in an interview about the state of Sparkman's body when he and some fellow family members discovered it:
"The only thing he had on was a pair of socks," Weaver said. "And they had duct-taped his hands, his wrists. He had duct tape over his eyes, and they gagged him with a red rag or something."
"And they even had duct tape around his neck. And they had like his identification tag on his neck. They had it duct-taped to the side of his neck, on the right side, almost on his right shoulder."
Authorties have release few official details surrounding Sparkman's death, but these new details seem to confirm the fears of many, that Sparkman may have been targeted because he worked for the federal government. An alternative theory, that Sparkman may have stumbled into an area rife with illegal drug activity had been raised as if it removes suspicion that Sparkman was a victim because of his part-time census work. Indeed, being bound, gagged, and hanged and having the word "fed" written across your chest would seem to confirm that while the original motive may not have been related to his being a Census employee, it certainly played a role in the minds of those who killed him.
As ThinkProgress points out tonight:
"The gruesome lynching of this Census worker seems to bear a disturbing similarity to some of the worst hate crimes committed across this country. Regardless of what the motive for the killing may have been, why would a murderer(s) take such pains to so blatantly convey anger, fear, and vitriol towards a Census employee? Perhaps because some on the right have created an impression that Census employees are terrifying."

This absolutely rules out suicide. This is an absolutely cruel and debasing treatment of a public servant.
I hope you enjoy your right wing Ideology you pigs! This is not a place to rant about the second amendment. This man was murdered! Imagine having discovered your own family member naked tied to a tree with the word FED scrawled across his chest. This man had a teenage son!
Michelle Bachman should be censured for inciting violence against census workers. Period. End of story. Her comments are irresponsible and failing censure she should be required to write to his family and apologize to his teenage son for calling the Census workers part of a conspiracy to deny health care to republicans, and painting them as nazi brown shirts! I'd love to see her explain that to a greiving family.
I am so tired of this debate. The immature people screaming socialism at every government service. If you want to see socialism watch Ken Burns documentary on the National Parks. And go paint swatstikaz on your local police department, military base, post office, and go spit in old faithful!
Lincoln talked about Government of for and by the people and somewhere for some reason childish thought has changed that quintessential American message of self governance into a twisted illogical mess! Republican democracy, equanimity for all isn't socialism it's the founding principle of America! That we know best how to govern ourselves and the will of the people does what is best for the people. The way the national parks belong to us all, the way the history of the armed services belong to us all, the way the ballot box is open to us all. These are the important rights we have assured in order to secure a more perfect union.
Is it too much to ask that America act like its predecessors? That we do as lincoln asked us do, to look to the better angel's of our nature. Where is that America? It certainly isn't in those advocating for violence against our own government, against the will of the American people.
