Just over four years ago, former U.S. DEA administrator Karen Tandy announced to the world that her agency had struck “a significant blow … to the marijuana legalization movement” by indicting Canada’s so-called ‘Prince of Pot,’ Marc Emery.

    • I agree with the overriding majority here, but that doesn't matter as the Pharmaceutical and Insurance industries still own two out of three branches of our Govt.
Tell a lie enough times and it can become the truth.
I do believe if they could they would like to simply change the constitution. You could do it with MS Word in a few seconds with the find and replace feature. Simply find the word "People", and replace it with the word "Corporations".

    • DEA are federal agents--it is obvious that this not the best use of these people. Bush said all federal agents
would work on 'terrorism'...and to capture Osama bin Laden...whereis he??

    • with 200,000 deaths every year from FDA approved drugs; why cant we use their own laws against them.?
Their drugs kill people for profit..lets put the real criminals in jail and leave the cannabis alone.

    • Its all to obvious the DEA are the hired thugs for Big Pharma. In case you don't yet understand what Big Pharma are, they are a confederation of multi lateral Corporations which prey on the sick like vultures feeding off what they regard as their not yet dead carrion. To use an analogy , the Big Pharma Corporate "Persons" are a well manned, heavily armed pirate ship. Read the factual History that White Noise has contributed to the Current.com news article on the m.o. corporations used to be regarded by the Courts as "Persons" with a CAPITAL P. They bribed a court reporter to commit Felony Forgery by altering a Court document misrepresenting corporations as a person entitled to the 14th Amendment protections enacted as anti Discrimination against African American citizens liberated from Slavery. And used their Fraud to enslave people as their corporate market instead. The sordid History of Anslinger, Hearst, and Dupont resulting in the 1937 Prohibition was only the beginning. When the Court vacated the 1937 Prohibition as unConstitutional for the way it was worded, Nixon got the Congress of his era to reenact the same Prohibition in another wording. You don't have to be a noir detective to fathom that Big Pharma has subverted our Government and used them as leverage to unduely influence the Canadian Government. As Bob Dylan worded it, " Money doesn't just talk, it swears " under oath. The DEA didn't get their man, they got Big Pharma's man. The DEA are pissants for hire by the Big Pharma corporate
pirates. Big Pharma knows MJ would immunize people against 90% of all degenerative diseases, effectively cure those already afflicted, or at least curtail disabling symptoms for those too far gone. MJ is the superior competitor that would put them out of business in a month all over the world. They don't like to get blood on their hands as the pirates sailing the high seas did. These days Pirates wear suits, and hang out in high rise buildings on land. But they still use gunmen raiding like the Somalian pirates to do their criminal bidding. Once California legalizes it, it will be the beginning of the end for vermin like Big Pharma and their DEA butt monkeys. You're right, the DEA are too cowardly to go after the meth & crack dealers. They're armed & dangerous. They have to prey on Cannabis activists like a wolf pack stalking a stray lamb to stay healthy enough to collect their pensions. Like the Flunkie Bureau, the DEA still haven't figured it out yet we know it's all for show. Even those malditos del diablo realize you can't kill the message by killing the messenger. If you still think Big Pharma hasn't corrupted our Government, look at how they've corrupted the medical profession. In 1937, in hearings before Congress, the AMA was dead set against Prohibition. Rexall's chain of drug stores already marketed tinctures of the different cannabinoids to treat epilepsy, asthma etc. So boycott them. Learn from Ebooks the history of medicinal herbs like sarsparilla, sasafrass, and ginger and how Charles Hires made his root beer to help prevent disease so that you can be part of the solution and dry up Big Pharma's money corrupting coffers. And so that we can put THEM out of business. For good. You don't have to be an employee of the Government to know how to promote the domestic tranquility as our Federal Constitution mandates. Wars are created by diseased humans. Peace, and whatever delivers on that promise, is the only real cure.

    • That faint gonging you hear in the distance signals the end of the War on Americans. excuse me. The War on Drugs.

May Marc be it's last victim. May the officials in Canada decide that to kowtow to the DEA is less important than standing up for their own citizen. And when our drug laws finally come a little in line with reality may Marc not only be pardoned but also compensated. Let the compensation come from the pockets of our lawmakers.

      Do I hear an amen?

    • WHAT?! jeezus, there are worse criminals down the street from my house selling meth and coke to high schoolers.... and this.. THIS is what get's the DEA's attention!

For the love of God.. . if people's lives were being completely torn apart by this man, then go ahead, throw him in jail with convicted drug dealers, thieves and rapists.

fact of the matter is that he hurt NO ONE. not a single soul. he helped many and fought to show that the US Government CANNOT control everything.
the US Government CANNOT stop people from smoking, growing, or consuming pot.

I only hope Obama realizes the amount of wasted time and money being funneled to the DEA for these "raids" and convictions of people only trying to help their society.
People trying to offer free if not better alternatives than relying on Big Pharma. This is beyond ridiculous.

CANDADIANS!.. . .a call to arms.. help Mark Emery.
If France and Poland can "help" Roman Polanski get out of jail for doing what he did - regardless if his victim has forgiven him or not - then i'm sure we can do better.

Let's help a real victim out.
Let's let the US government finally realize that no one cares anymore. NO ONE cares about stopping the "war on drugs", because that war is about stopping the use of marijuana. ..not about stopping REAL drugs and drug dealers.

No, it's all about how much the US can make off of legalizing it rather than stopping what is actually killing us.

      FOR SHAME!

    • Hey Obama,
Grow some balls and some weed and lets see if we cant get some fucking health care with the profits instead of making weed out to be fucking meth or crack and busting anyone that says anything that goes against our own bullshit laws.

im so sick of my country acting like a bunch of ass hats in the world community, and thats all im going to say.

    • He only turned himself in because Our ( Canadian ) Government caved in and agreed to extradite him. The proceedings were going against Emery, and he faced up to 30 years in US prison if he continued to fight extradition. US Prosecutors offered him a deal (legal blackmail) of a much reduced sentence if he surrendered.

    • Emery sells seeds. He has healed more sick people than Jesus and mother Teresa. Now, he is being persecuted for what he did with the money he made. He is being prosecuted for an act that is not illegal where he lives. This move by our D.o.J. is Unconstitutional!! It is a political witchhunt. He is spreading the truth about Cannibus. That's what got him in trouble. He is a hero.

Banchee, I totall agree with what you say and I am all about getting Mike Emery out of the system. But he did distribute seeds in the US and therefore, what he did was illegal. However, it shouldn't be illegal. This is a ridiculous law!

George Orwell once said: "Truth is the first casualty of any War" and "When deception is so pervasively widespread that it's mind controlled as the truth, then simply speaking the real Truth will always be regarded as a Revolutionary act" Following out his logic of subversion then, if truth be lies, then this "law" must be the crime. "Nothing breeds public contempt for all legitimate laws than the missapropriation of authority used to legislate bad laws" Anonymous
