Sooner or later it is going to occur to Barack Obama that he is the president of the United States. As of yet, though, he does not act that way, appearing promiscuously on television and granting interviews like the presidential candidate he no longer is. The election has been held, but the campaign goes on and on. The candidate has yet to become commander in chief.

Take last week's Group of 20 meeting in Pittsburgh. There, the candidate-in-full commandeered the television networks and the leaders of Britain and France to give the Iranians a dramatic warning. Yet another of their secret nuclear facilities had been revealed and Obama, as anyone could see, was determined to do something about it -- just don't ask what.

The entire episode had a faux Cuban missile crisis quality to it. Something menacing had been discovered -- not Soviet missiles a mere 100 miles or so off Florida but an Iranian nuclear installation about 100 miles from Tehran. As befitting the occasion, various publications supplied us with nearly minute-by-minute descriptions of the crisis atmosphere earlier in the week at the U.N. session -- the rushing from room to room, presidential aides conferring, undoubtedly aware that they were in the middle of a book they had yet to write. I scanned the accounts looking for familiar names. Where was McNamara? Where was Bundy? Where, in fact, was the crisis

Denying a location for news just because you don't like them instead of what the article said is a terrible defense.

As for it being silly to complain about his time on TV...well people are complaining about excessive racism because of him being President how is it any different to complain about his excessive use of the limelight for no good reason but because he's an attention whore?

Is not excess something to complain about?

      In fairness it matters.

Obama has never shown how important the Health Care was to him. He spent billions on Car companies, shoved the government into owning GM and then decides that health care is important....only after Talk Radio and the powerful voices of Fox News nailed him in a coffin of death like the every other time this health care bill has been tried in the past.

He can't be that President. He has to be the important President...the one that makes a historical change.

      It's a mess. I don't buy he cares...not even a little bit.

Not really. If he is out for a way to stand out other than being the first Black President then it's a reasonable statement. Flying on a plane by himself and arriving in a location after his wife took a single fight by herself....isn't exactly done by someone that cares about health care and cost. Especially when this is all done for the Olympics to be held in Chicago 2016. People are making concessions in their own lives and he's trying to get the Olympics for a city that can't even protect its own citizens from violence.

    • Did you expect him to make an open threat or try to intimidate the Iranian President like would normally be done by American Bullying politics?

He's not the only person in the world that has the responsibility of taking on the situation. I think that by not committing to a specific course of action he leaves the table open for cooperative action with the European nations as well as those closer to Iran with the US's help.

    • You elect someone totally inexperienced and unqualified and this is what you get. I don't know why anybody would be suprised, they knew he was an empty suit when they voted for him.
