Michael Vick speaks out against dog fighting (Video)

locutus
Michael Vick speaks out against dog fighting. Vick, speaking at Washington D.C.'s Covenant Baptist Church, told a small crowd he never thought he would get caught dogfighting. Vick said he doesn't know why he did it or why he risked his career for it.
---------------------------------------
Is Vick sincere? Does he really believe dogfighting is wrong? Or is he just sorry he got caught?

    • this man is speaking more about his mentality at the time and the tragic mistake of thinking he had everything figured out and was untouchable.

good thing you people dont have any real power over this man's affairs

but it makes no difference what you guys think actually. the man served his sentence as determined by the system. no doubt a faulty system wherein other people who have inflicted far greater damage have served far less time.... but its the system that exists nonetheless

everyone is entitled to their own opinion. just keep in mind that despite the lack of forgiveness by some, there does exist the possibility that this man is genuinely sorry and will not repeat this mistake again. if you think he should have served a more severe punishment, then that is a different discussion that you should take up with the judicial system.

    • The guy paid his dues - he went to jail and endured public humiliation. Is that not enough?

Jane Goodall was once asked about the cruelty of keeping animals in zoos. She replied that life in the wild can be far more cruel, as animals in enclosures don't face the constant anxiety of eventual starvation or being ripped to shreds.

Violence among animals is a natural and unavoidable consequence of life. That is not to excuse cruelty and inhumanity; and animal protection laws exist for good reason. Nevertheless, it is fanciful and unrealistic to regard dogs and other animals as cuddly play-things - or even worse, as moral agents on an equal footing with human beings.

    • I am disgusted that the NFL let this evil torturous monster rejoin their ranks. Do souls that inhabit bodies besides the human form deserve no respect, no love, no compassion? Would you torture a sweet, loyal, innocent, loving dog? Would you train a sweet puppy to be a killer of his own race? I will never watch another NFL game in my whole life. I will leave the room if someone puts this representative of evil(the NFL) on the television.

don't knock the sport just because of a few bad apples. it really sounds like you should objectively watch a game or two, you might even start to like it. i've played football, and it's a real rush.
