The Empire State, a symbol of New York City and its tallest building, has created quite a controversy over the red and yellow colors that illuminated the top for two consecutive nights to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
Outraged human rights activists called it a celebration of communism while Tibetans protested outside the building's main entrance. Supporters argued that China cannot be ignored.
