t is time to clarify the debate over Iran and its nuclear program. It's easy to criticize the current course adopted by the United States and its allies, to huff and puff about Iranian mendacity, to point out that Russia and China won't agree to tougher measures against Tehran, and to detail the leaks in the sanctions already in place. But what, then, should the United States do? The critics are eager to denounce the administration from the sidelines for being weak but rarely detail what they would do to be "tough." Would they attack Iran today? If not, then what should we do? It is time to put up or shut up on Iran.

There are three basic options that the United States and its allies have regarding Iran's nuclear program. We can bomb Iran, engage it diplomatically, or contain and deter the threat it poses. Let me outline what each would entail and then explain why I favor containment and deterrenc

    • Fareed is wrong. There are other options like regime change; refined gas embargo, lost of diplomatic status, etc. These sponsors of Hezbollah and Hamas cannot be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

    • Why should there be just 1 with the power in the east, Israel wants to be the only power. "they are thechoosen ones" I wonder if the bible says Oh the children of Israel you shall be the only ones with nuclear power. I think not. Iran got permission from the UN to have it ,are they wrong? Maybe they were wrong letting Israel have Palestine.

I think you're confusing the issues. Iran is a threat because they are hiding most of their nuclear plants. They legally obtained nuclear technology under the premise that their facilities will be monitored so they do not create nuclear weapons.

Iran has an unstable government whose power is based on hatred towards America and the west (they "need" an enemy to rally against). Though with the last revolt, we can see that the younger generation is not falling for their government's fear mongering. I'm very liberal and even I see Iran's current government as a real threat. If you read the rest of the article, it will make a lot more sense.

I am not confused, Iran told the UN 2 years ago about this plant in Qum. Iran got permission from them for this plant. This has just been pulled into the news because the US is cowtowing to Israel. They knew about this 2 years ago why is it an issue rite now? Some goverments want a war. If we and other countrys have missles pointing at you what would you do? Just sit around or protect your assets. This all about power and oil. The goverments don't care about it's people.
