'Vegan Ugg' (V-Uggs?) style boots can help the environment and our local regional economies, also.

In New England we have an almost idle shoe industry, due to foreign imports.
Students and others are annually needing new Ugg style boots here.

I am now volunteering, with the hope interning, at Wolf's Neck Farm to hone my skills in Sustainable Business Development. After I graduate with a Bachelors in Business I hope to continue increasing my value in our fight against climate change, by completing a Masters in Environmental Toxicology and Biology.

Being mostly Vegan, I stand face to face, with these playful, soulful creatures, in my Uggs. I wonder about more compassionate, sustainable way, to keep my feet cozy.

Regional Design and Sustainable Manufacturing of 'Vegan Uggs' or V-Uggs, could solve many of these problems.

Instead of trucking the V-Uggs around the U.S.A., each region can economically benefit from its own manufacturing processes. With modification of styles, this would be a benefit to many of the United States.

Sounds remarkably old fashioned and common sensical, once we get past the mindset that we need to shovel our money to the Oil Industry before we do anything.

We need to keep in mind the triple bottom line, as we progress. By buying locally we are enriching our economies and having pride in our grand nation's capabilities. By driving out to our Malls we are supporting bad systems where fat cats benefit, and we are left in the dust with the planet.

    • Do you mean Wolfe's Neck Farm, in Maine?

They farm animals, and animal farming is animal farming is animal farming, no matter how "peaceful" it all may look on the surface. And it's animal exploitation, too.

I really don't need Uggs mimicked with a vegan version. There are so many other cool-looking vegan brands out there already. But if you're willing to make a super inexpensive "V-Ugg," there may be a market for that but, not if it's connected at all with a factory farm.

The heck with being "mostly vegan" ... just go vegan and help our planet in oh so many wonderful ways.

    • These are great looking but are they really ethical and locally made..
I am proposing a regional competition for college students to design retro fit our factories to be vegan an sustainable..and market to their regions.

    • Here they are ...you see these Ugg style boots all over.
      They are like wearing slippers.
I have a second hand pair that are not official Uggs but I wear them all the time...they look fine with jeans or shorts.

    • This might seem silly to you, but I think it would be interesting to talk it over with someone like Harold Alfond who developed Maine's Dexter Shoe. He recently passed away but had instincts about what works. I bet this family would be sad to see our factories in disuse and think it is a good idea to discuss options and current trends in styles..rather than continue bad decisions that are destroying our country and victimizing citizens in our country and countries like China.

      How about V-Uggs!
Perhaps Uggs would consider a Partnership where their brand loyalty is used with local factories and use the name V-Uggs.
I am pretty sure that they are also concerned about our environmental degradation and would consider putting satellite quality-control and operations out around the world that adhered to Sustainable and Ethical Business Practices.

    • Not everyone will like every style.
      That is OK.

      The points:
      1. they would be made locally
      2. people could support their own community by buying from their own local factories instead of China.
      3. it does not have to be Uggs brand but the style is currently popular with students I have two under 22.
      4. they are very comfy and warm for winters.
      5. The style is popular with students and not everyone is going to like them but many students do. Perhaps other styles could be researched in other areas.
      6. We would greatly reduce our carbon footprint by not buying overseas, things we can make here.

    • ...guess they can be "hot"
and they seem to be experiencing double digit growth.

This link has Vegan and USA options but not many of both.
water proof cruelty free and green.
If we can make these in Maine they might be perfect.

    • Not the brand ...but they are very popular and comfortable with students.
The brand is not the issue.
I am sure that they can find non chemical solutions to keep them dry..I will look on Patagonia.

    • Wolf's Neck Farm in Freeport, Maine.
This is where I started volunteering 40 hours a week for 3 weeks with the hope that I will be doing a Sustainable Business Strategies Internship.
The farm is awesome and 650 acres on the ocean.
They are changing owners I believe and are seeking a sustainable strategy. These Black Angus are lovely soulful creatures and seem happy and playful in their big rolling fields. I would like to help them in several ways including integrating organic mushroom cultivation into the farm to allow meat lovers to get good hearty taste, combining meaty mushrooms and less beef.

By promoting the local Vegan Uggs on a large scale we can help them by having a substitute for their skin. This would also help local economies.

I don't get paid here. I am trying to form an Internship business school.

I don't defend it but I am realistic and trying to improve where I can. I am painfully aware of the process.
I am much happier to see this than a factory farm.
The animals are not imprisoned as far as I can see. They are on huge fields and happy I can see.
