Get Off Obama's Back ...second thoughts from Michael Moore

Why? Because "HOPE".

The simple fact that he was elected was reason enough for him to be the recipient of this year's Nobel Peace Prize.
Because on that day the murderous actions of the Bush/Cheney years were totally and thoroughly rebuked. One man -- a man who opposed the War in Iraq from the beginning -- offered to end the insanity. The world has stood by in utter horror for the past eight years as they watched the descendants of Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson light the fuse of our own self-destruction. We flipped off the nations on this planet by abandoning Kyoto and then proceeded to melt eight more years worth of the polar ice caps. We invaded two nations that didn't attack us, failed to find the real terrorists and, in effect, ignited our own wave of terror. People all over the world wondered if we had gone mad.

    • How about Michael Moore gets off our backs and allows free opinions? Is he still trying to assuage his own guilt from 2000? This isn't about Obama, this is about a higher principle he has yet to focus on. And I will be damned if anyone tells me to in essence "shut up" regarding my opinions on Obama's policies or anything else that I believe is important.

"The simple fact that he was elected was reason enough for him to be the recipient of this year's Nobel Peace Prize."

All I can say to that is, wow. Way to demean the purpose of this prize with partisan politics. That's the same mentality that got Bush the debate wins in the media in 2000 over the right man simply because he played so dumb that being able to say his name without fuc**** it up was considered genius.

    • Too many Americans are unaware of how important our country is to those who live in lands ruled by dictators instead of elected representatives. Too few U.S. citizens know what our country looks like from the outside: how our freedom to speak, worship, write, travel, and succeed or fail makes us different in a good way. That's why the world is so relieved that we elected a man who gets it; a man who knows that America is not just 300+million people who live in the 50 states; America is an ideal of liberty and opportunity that arose to challenge the age-old systems of tyranny under which most humans lived.

The Nobel Peace Prize committee awarded its coveted medal to Barack Obama not because of anything he has done during the last 9 months, but because his election symbolizes a rebirth of hope in the American ideal, an ideal that says human rights are important above all else, that citizens cannot be denied their basic freedoms by dictators or corrupt financial systems, and that we all have the responsibility to work to bring the ideal into material reality.

The people that hate Barack Obama are afraid that he will so empower the dreams and ambitions of millions that the flame will be much harder to extinguish than they had anticipated. They lie awake wondering what they will do when they have to compete with fellow citizens on a level playing field. And they hurt because every foul insult they hurl, every lie they tell, and every measure they take to block the progress of American ideals reminds them of their inner weakness, which lives in dull and unforgiving ignorance.

    • It has only been a little over nine months and he's done a pretty good job. The only thing that bothers me at this time is his belief in bipartisanship. Give that up, and full speed ahead!
