Would you rather have a baby girl or a baby boy? YO! reporter Valerie Klinker hit the streets of San Francisco to find out what sex young people preferred. Most young folks said they wanted a baby boy, explaining that girls are more difficult to raise than boys. Girls, they said, are typically high-maintenance, so they cost more money and cause more drama than boys. Boys carry on the family name and protect the family, one young woman said. Klinker also shared her reaction to learning she was pregnant with a baby boy, while YO! contributing reporter Rolland Ballard interviewed three young women about their preference on a baby's sex.
I think most people are afraid to have a girl because they don't want their girl to grow up and have a baby at a young age. If this happens, she is perpetuating this cycle of young women who get pregnant and ending up struggling financially to baby costs.
