Peace Prize on Credit

So what did he do? Eyebrows raised, jaws dropped and people sputtered out, 'Who won?!' Now, in the aftermath, people are debating the whys and hows, and questioning whether President Barack Obama was the appropriate choice for the Nobel Peace Prize.

YPNation contributor Ewan Watt takes it one step further and says, "Give it back!":

"When he went before the cameras on Friday the President should have turned the Nobel Peace Prize down. Here is what he could have said:

'I was both surprised and deeply humbled to be told today that I was receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Looking at the list of individuals who have received the prize over the years, I am truly honored. As Americans, we know all too well that people in my position have used this office to achieve exceptional feats, feats that have been acknowledged in the past by the Nobel Prize committee. President Theodore Roosevelt brokered peace that ended a savage war between Russia and Japan. Woodrow Wilson, who strove for peace following the war he hoped would “end all wars.” Unlike Presidents Roosevelt and Wilson, my presidency is in its infancy. We have made great strides towards our goals and ambitions. As a result, I have asked the Nobel Prize Committee to offer this honor to another individual more deserving than I.'"

    • It's a complete joke. The Nobel Prize will never be taken seriously again. He has accomplished nothing. There is no logical reason he should be given the prize by any stretch of the imagination.

      Your opposition to Obama's award, is meaningless to the committee, his supporters and the majority of the World.......If it displeases you that much, start your own award and give it to those you feel that is deserving of it..

    • Mr Watt either has a personal dislike for Obama, did not research his past accomplishments, didn't appreciate the Nobel committee's logic, nor understand the huge step for peace his very election accomplished. To think he knows better than all the wise people who bestowed it is pretty ridiculous. Or maybe he was just grabbing attention. Time will tell the rest of the story.
