The Oxycontin Express hits home here in San Francisco!

Our local SFGate has a post from their City Insider page about a rise in Oxycontin sales in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood. SF's new police chief had an undercover sting operation that combined with new tougher legislation focused on deterring crack and heroin sales near schools. The sting seems to have been effective.

From SFGate:
"The guys who were selling the coke and heroin just aren't down there anymore. It kind of flushed them out," said Lt. Jim Miller of the field operations bureau. "Word's getting around that if you sell around the schools in the Tenderloin, you're not getting out of jail...It's a huge deterrent that we didn't anticipate." That's not to say the Tenderloin has turned into Mayberry. Far from it. The dealers are still there; they're just selling painkillers like OxyContin which costs $40 a pill on the streets."

yup, and a lot of us always have comments about how that person doesn't know what they're doing or whatever. As if that one person, who we expect to fix a problem that is centuries old, had a magic wand.

    • OMG WTF?? Yeah well like the Vanguard special again I think our system is such a f#*king joke these Docs under the guise of their degree and Hippocratic Oath (ha) sell the pills and than when a White Trash Kentucky person gets busted for selling 10 pills they get FELONY Charges?? And get sent to prison?? I mean really we are so upside down as a society its a joke..I have a script for 100 Norco a month as I have a damaged ankle from 1999 a work accident I fell off a ladder and broke my right ankle in 3 places, and still have 12 pins and two metal braces.. point is even 10 years later and 43 years old I get treated like a Child by my doc for 100 10mg pills I get a month ..Id rather buy meds off the street its easier and I don't have to pay the $85.00 office visit..cuz my INSURANCE doesn't pay as its a PRE Existing condition..
I am really starting to Hate America even as a Veteran and successful businessman..We have draconian laws and as by the current economic (read BANKING) meltdown the greed and hypocrisy of our country is bringing us down..its like we are living in a Big Outlet Mall and everyone is stealing and pilfering anything that is a good deal from the top to the bottom devaluing everything we as Americans hold sacred...

    • The dealers are at Hyde and Eddy. After dusk, they guard all four corners, and whistle to their main man if they suspect a cop. The main man is usually in front of the Little Princess Market, but also operates on the southwest corner of the intersection.

They also operate under the trees on Eddy between Hyde and Larkin. They've done this for years, and nobody does anything about it.

I acquainted with someone who has access to the authentic stuff in Asia. I heard they are so much cheaper there. He brings them over to SF and sells for less expensive than street price.

    • By far the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The green coating is only on the outside, so that the pill is more slowly dissolved. If you put a little water or spit on it then the coating rubs right off and you can cut that up into a fine powder.

There is no way that it would turn your nose green, as you could just pick the coating out even if you crushed it with the coating on.
