The word "choice" is especially interesting here. Choice is the whole crux of the problem with GMOs. Lack of choice. Consumers don't have the choice to avoid GMO's in conventional products because our food supply has been adulterated with out our permission, and labels aren't required. The only way to avoid GMOs is to eat organic.
Farmers don't have the choice to avoid GMO crops either. Time has proven over and over that it is nearly impossible to contain the modified varieties. Plants reproduce all the time without our permission. It's very difficult to avoid GMO contamination.
The "choice" these industry folks speak of is illusion. Marketing designed to make everyone believe that GM Wheat is a harmless crop with no long term consequences.

KANSAS CITY, Oct 14 (Reuters) - A coalition of U.S. wheat industry leaders said on Wednesday that they were pushing ahead to gain acceptance for genetically modified wheat, despite continued concerns and at least a decade of research and development work ahead.
"This is going to be a win-win for everybody," said Daren Coppock, chief executive of the National Association of Wheat Growers.
Coppock was one of a group of wheat industry participants meeting Wednesday in Kansas City to discuss key issues impacting the industry and how to press for acceptance of a genetically modified wheat.
Among the other attendees were representatives from the North American Millers' Association, the National Wheat Improvement Committee and the Grain Growers of Canada.
Officials from the organizations said in a conference call following the meeting that no active research for a specific type of biotech wheat was underway at this point and the industry still needed to gaining widespread market acceptance at home and abroad.
Coppock said food industry and export players have made it clear that they will need to have clear marketing channels that allow for a choice between non-genetically modified wheat and biotech varieties.

My son has celiac disease and can't eat wheat at all, but he's extremely sensitive to any gmo food. My husband has to have a diet high in Omega 3's, so we use a lot of canola oil. I contacted the producer of the organic canola oil we use to find out whether or not it's non-gmo, and they told me that an organic product can't be certified organic unless it's proven to be non-gmo. It's a very strict process. Products that might carry gmo in them are called "organically grown" but cannot be labeled as "certified organic." I will never support the use or knowingly eat any gmo wheat. The fact that we have an explosion of celiac disease in our country proves that eating things our bodies are not adapted to is harmful or fatal, and I'm pretty sure 10 years is not enough time for us to adapt to whatever they're doing to the genomes of wheat, or anything else for that matter. This is also the cause of hive collapse in bees, according to a beekeeper I know. The reason bugs don't eat gmo plants is that they don't recognize it as food. Bees will abandon their hives if they can't gather from non-gmo plants, because it contaminates their honey and they can't eat it. Listen to what Nature says, it could save your life.

If it's certified organic, it can't be genetically modified, that's part of the requirement for getting a product certified organic. I learned this because my son is a celiac and also extremely sensitive to any gmo food, but my husband has to have a diet high in Omega 3's, so we use a lot of canola oil. The canola has been compromised by Monsanto's gm seed, so I wrote the producer of the organic camola I was using to find out if it was clean of gmo's, and they told me they couldn't get it certified unless it was non-gmo.

Quote: "Supporters must also work to make genetically modified wheat acceptable through..." your own words here...
Like..
- gorilla infiltration with unleashed gmo seed,
- flagrantly abusive and financially destructive legal tactics against farmers (leading not only to taking them down, but acquiring their land),
- brainwashing with marketing through bought off mainstream media (that won't tell the public the other side),
- clamping down on would-be informers (to the public) with frivolous and financially destructive lawsuits (like the fellow they threw in jail who was running legitimate growth tests in his home for the purposes of research to support a relevant film ..who's house the authorities busted into, took his whole [legal] ops down, and ultimately rendered his efforts null),
- by efforting to make it illegal to make public certain information via films and certain public advertising (yeah, I read some stuff on that too - really sick)......oh, so sorry, ...I said "your words here" and then I sort of went off there, didn't I ?

Because it more than likely wouldn't make it to market because Monsanto will sue you. They are everywhere. And I'm not joking. They are even harassing seed cleaners. But I understand your point. Transgenic contamination has infiltrated much of our environment with unknown results. You can however access the NON GMO Project http://www.nongmoproject.org for more information on buying GMO free, and also the Institute for Responsible Technology http://www.responsibletechnology.org.
This is why we need to stop GMO wheat. If this were to happen there would be no safe food to eat to avoid these GMOs.

They will not be happy until they kill agriculture as it has been known for centuries. Until they poison it all. And a majority of people in this country won't even know what has been done to them.
