A group of San Jose police officers are on the other side of the law, after using what some experts call "excessive force" on an unarmed San Jose student after responding to a roommate dispute.

    • my biggest question will always remain...

      WHO IS POLICEING THE POLICE?

who gets to pull them over and tell them to step out of the vehicle with their hands behind their head? who gets to shoot electric darts at them when THEY are acting up? who gets to beat them senseless with a billy club?

    • The video is hard to watch. Though it does not show the entire incident and you do not see if he resisted before he was on the ground; I am not sure it matters. At the point when the video is shot he appears to be cooperating and there fore the use of force, a baton and taser appear to be excessive and cruel.

    • Look close on the bottom right side of the video. You can see and hear a taser being used as well. This video made me sick.

is that a reason to be beaten? i wonder if you would be singing the same song if a nightstick were shoved up your ass. cops like this dont need to be protected by excuses or he was doing this so i beat him

cops are given that power for a reason and that reason is not to beat people senseless. have you ever seen how cops handle things across the pond in london? alot more respectable then the cops over here

    • Effed up. I really want to have faith in our police system, because I respect people who sacrifice and serve for the good of society, but every day I'm becoming more and more aware of instances where they over step boundaries and abuse their power. This guy looks scared out of his wits and is sobbing almost the whole time. He even got tased...

I don't like how these images spark negative images of our officers, but the constant bombardment of such abusive behaviors from the media and such really hurts my faith in them...

    • That's the crux of the problem. You WILL do as I say or you WILL get beat down, you WILL go to jail, you WILL have to pay to get out, and you WILL lose in court. Generally speaking of course.

I never resist. I never talk back. I don't get hostile (usually). I don't give them ANY reason to beat my ass. And before I adopted this attitude, I've had my ass beat by the cops more than once. You never, never, never win when you go up against the cops.

    • It's an abuse of power that happens all across the country on a regular basis. Obviously, psychological screening isn't adequate for the authority and weaponry provided police.

That's not to say there aren't good, or great police officers, there are. It's just tragic when the vary agency empowered with maintaining the peace is the one that destroys the peace.

Too often when we see these situations it's police officers who escalates the tension and conflict in a situation by insisting person comply to their demands immediately, even when they are not in danger. Such was the case when a stupid mother called the police on her 16 year old daughter. The daughter didn't comply and instead ran off. The policeman shot and killed her. There was more to it, I don't recall the details, but was it really necessary for that policeman to kill the daughter because she didn't comply?

In many situations that come to light policeman force people the way a body builder forces barbells when lifting, or the way a rapist forces his victim. Why is it okay for police to force people this way?

Because police have to deal with people's emotions, often heightened emotions, shouldn't they be required to have training in psychology - as in therapeutically handling a situation?

Or, how about some good old common sense!?

I give credit to some of what I watch on police shows on TV - it's really nice to see a nice policeman / woman.

    • The torture of this just goes on and on while the man is screaming. I think I heard at least 15 different blows or slaps in the darkness. This is a perfect example of how the police in many places are inhuman.
