Hello Current.com..and Facebook.... Marijuana Legalization is often popular talk on this site, with little or nothing said on how this can be achieved. What we can do make it legal... here is the bill to do just that. Call your Senator or congressmen (202)224-3121 or Barack Obama (202)456-1414

Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2009 - Prohibits the imposition of any penalty under an Act of Congress for the possession of marijuana for personal use or for the not-for-profit transfer between adults of marijuana for personal use. Deems the possession of 100 grams or less of marijuana as personal use (one ounce or less for a not-for-profit transfer between adults). Allows the imposition of a civil penalty under the Controlled Substances Act for the public use of marijuana if such penalty does not exceed $100.

Call AND write your congressmen, or women... message me i will gladly provide you with address and phone numbers

For my my friends in Hartford,CT that is Rep.John Larson (202)225-2265

    • Legalize the weed. I have been smoking for over 32 years now and I have NEVER been caught by the pigs. I know sooner or later my luck would run out. I am getting to old to worry about some young punk who wants to make a name for himself and bring me on some bullshit charges that could cost me a lot of money in a court of law......money that could have been spent on weed.

Smokers in this country must unite and forget about what party they belong to when it comes to this issue. we are all in the "green party" as far as I am concerned. Get your democrat or republican friends high today.

    • Flashback. Nixon wins the 1972 election. "Tricky Dick" - same as Harry Anslinger- Nixon, an unethical reactionary to the unstable 1960s. He manipulates a reinstitution of the 1937 Prohibition orchestrated by the troll FBI J.Ogre Hoover,Anslinger,Hearst, Dupont which had been struck down by the Supreme Court because of it's UnConstitutional wording. Then we experienced a 2nd wave of oppression. Same pattern of monkey see monkey do following the 1937 Prohibition ensued in 1973 when N.Y. Governor Rockefeller had his draconian version of Prohibition instituted to aggravate Nixons poilicy. N.Y. knew it was a giant step in the wrong direction, and decrimed in 1977 in the Gottfried/Barclay law. (Rockefeller was then soon promoted to V.P. under Pres.Gerald Ford. Ford himself was Nixon's V.P. after Nixon's original V.P.Spiro Agnew (also in separate scandals) exited the stage of this tragic comedy of errors preceding Nixon's demise over Watergate. V.P. Ford was an FBI operative chosen to pardon Nixon. Rockefeller, like Howard Hughs, was a Billionaire plugged into FBI/CIA) The FBI & CIA then as now functioned as the unlawful shadow government pulling the strings of the Oval Office during the 70s, 80s, 90s, and on through the Dubya regimes, with only 1 brief popular objection electing Jimmy Carter. If you look at the timeline, most of the prevailing atmosphere of the past 37 years has been one of passive negativity. The USA was reacting to the Arab Oil embargo in 1973. Then saw the elections of flim flam man Ronald Reagan in 1980, hell bent on carrying out the Bush agenda of continuing the USA's destructive addiction to oil while distracting Americans by pretending M.J. was radioactively dangerous. Then comes 2 more foreign oil wars prosecuted by Bush 1 & Dubya in Kuwait, then Iraq. And so today the USA is still bogged down in 2 related foreign oil/CIA/DEA drug wars in 2 foreign countries, and bankrupt. I was delivering newspapers during the first CIA "1984 style" Corporate war for profit in Vietnam. Reagan would have been proud of our brutaly cold county newspaper, because he proposed a sub minimum wage to exploit children. I was working for only 40% of the minimum wage then, as an independent contractor at 14, granting credit from my low pay to deadbeats who would cheat kids since they couldn't get away with it with adults. Bottom line ? It's all about extreme greed. That's why we haven't changed the World already. (the World's a very small place realy) Nixon,Reagan,Bushs have
promoted greed because their agenda has been to manipulate our wealth out of our hands into the hands of the top 1% who could then have virtualy absolute power over us because then they could dominate us as whites did to blacks. Most people could not live if they could not work. So the FBI/DEA manipulates employers through their insurance companies the FBI collaborates with. (an ap for them only as with the cyber worm they launch to bug your I phone with) Many people have to undergo a drug test before they can obtain a job. So the unlawful shadow government agencies like the FBI, themselves thugs for hire by Corporations, unlawfuly enforce employer Discrimination in violation of the Federal Equal Opportunity Employment Act by targeting Cannabis users. How ? Employers have to use insurance companies to cover their workforce. Insurers give corporate employers a 30% reduction in the premiums if they Discriminate against Cannabis users claiming statistics show we cause preventable workplace accidents and injuries. So to keep insurance overhead down (and increase their
Trillion $ profits at our expense) they manipulate the workforce & State laws (States are employers too) where workers are the most vulnerable. The FBI has had M.J. Prohibition on it's agenda since 1937, and still uses employers as its quasi governmetal arm, which the Supreme Court has ruled unlawful, to maintain its Prohibition status quo. Divide and conquer is still the FBI drug war tactic.

It's time to 'stand up' and 'Unite' against spin, disinformation and lies! It's time to hold people accountable for using fake facts and spin to confuse ordinary Americans.

      Education, education, education! Facts matter!

    • This is the bill which Rep. Barney Frank introduced, no ? I recall blogging that current.com article some months ago. Great start. Given that it passes, I'm hoping that the law becomes amended to include all preparations of Cannabis Sativa. Indica, Ruderalis including Hashish, Hashish Oil, and Jamacian #1. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Besides, we're Americans. While that might not be prestigious as some countries in this world it's still a heck of a lot better than most. The idea that we need to ask permission to do what the original Americans commonly and routinely did is revolting per se. Doing what the original Americans, including all the founding fathers, did should be a source of national pride. Did you know that all 4 Presidents carved into Mt. Rushmore smoked the sacred herb ? Verdad. Hey when you put some red lebonese hashish in your inhaler, you should be playing John Phillip Sousa's Stars & Stripes Forever on your stereo, with a picture Of Theodore Roosevelt on your wall. And bully for you too ! Bully !

      Voices of Reason:

"Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica." - Abraham Lincoln (from a letter written by Lincoln during his presidency to the head of the Hohner Harmonica Company in Germany)

"Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country."
      - Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President

"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere."
      - George Washington, U.S. President

"We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption."
      - John Adams, U.S. President

      Have been replaced with 'madness':

"I now have absolute proof that smoking even one marijuana cigarette is equal in brain damage to being on Bikini Island during an H-bomb blast" - Ronald Reagan

After Richard Nixon flattened the Democrats as soft on crime in the '68 election, the President-elect faced a dilemma. There's not much the White House can do to impact crime. The thugs people are afraid of — burglars, robbers, rapists, murderers — are the business of state courts. Then somebody mentioned drugs.

In a textbook example of fear manipulation, Nixon warned the country that a plague of unimaginable proportions was about to engulf the nation. “The problem has assumed the dimensions of a national emergency,” he said. To fight the pushers on their own terms, he would need emergency powers — preventive detention, unorthodox strike forces, more freedom to search, wire tap, and arrest.

Why would people choose 'madness' over 'reason'? Media manipulation of facts. The history of cannabis hemp was removed from American educational material and replaced with 'madness'. That's just crazy! It's time to end the 'madness'!

I think we have to add 'accountability and shame' to our politicians. Facts are available! The internet is a new tool, to out the spinners. Don't let them spin disinformation. It's time to have the conversation. If they lie, or spin, call them out and shame them!

I can't do it, but there are people with voices, who can! It will take courage, but those who know this is wrong need to speak up. Counter the spin with facts! Let their voices be heard and others will 'stand up' using more facts. Cannabis hemp history and facts are no longer a 'mystery'! We know! If you don't, please take a look at Jack Herer's book, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes". It's available to read on the internet. But, the book contains all the actual copies of the actual documents to back up the facts. Once one reads Jack Herer's book, one can't be spun with disinformation. Facts stops dizzyness! It's time to get back on

Dont allow things like "less then 100grams" or "no profit"
Weed should be exactly like alcohol, no less!
but I do think its a good start
