While watching the morning news shows, I was watching them report from hospitals, where flu fear was driving people into emergency rooms. As I watched I thought about the people who were there with a common cold, worried about having the flu. I thought, they unknowingly may be exposing themselves to the flu, by being in contacts where real flue suffers are. Everyone should be wearing masks.
I see this as being a problem. One way to possibly eliminate exposure, would be to give people ‘face masks’ when entering the Emergency Room. Face masks with elastic to go over the ears, would be easy to put on. There could be two sizes for adults and one for children. The passing of germs, when visiting Emergency Rooms, must be rampant.
I also see hand sanitization being important also. People should be instructed to hand-sanitize after putting on ‘face mask’, thereby eliminating germs which were on the hands from prior coughing. If people are too sick to wear ‘face masks’, they should be removed from general Emergency Room patients.
The President has declared the flu a national emergency. I think emergency actions are required. I suggest, easy to puton face masks along with hand sanitization required to enter hospital emergency rooms. We must work to eliminate exposure and spreading of the flu.
