    • I think saying that Nataline Sarkisyan was "Killed by CIGNA" is a little bit of hyperbole. While it was their greed that lead to her death, saying "killed" is just a little strong and causes people on the other side of the insurance reform argument to react in a way that is not productive.

I will say that this is why we need health insurance reform. When companies make a profit from administering insurance plans the patients and their operations become dollar signs on a balance sheet.

And now we know how much a human life is worth.

"The cost of a liver transplant and 1 year of follow-up care was $450,000 in 2005. UCLA declined two livers while waiting for insurance approval from Cigna.[4]. Ms. Sarkisyan's family was also informed that they could proceed with the transplant if they could make a down-payment of $75,000."

CIGNA denied her care. Her parents had full insurance coverage for the very purpose of things like this. What you are saying is the same old double talk that permeates our society and our laws with some kind of sick twisted official policy that exempts health insurance companies from all criminality. That's total bull. She died because of CIGNA's actions. CIGNA even came around and admitted she deserved coverage but by the time her parents fought them for that, she died. That is criminal neglect. They killed her.
