California to withhold 10% more from all paychecks
Starting Sunday, cash-strapped California will dig deeper into the pocketbooks of wage earners -- holding back 10% more than it already does in state income taxes just as the biggest shopping season of the year kicks into gear.
Technically, it's not a tax increase, even though it may feel like one when your next paycheck arrives. As part of a bundle of budget patches adopted in the summer, the state is taking more money now in withholding, even though workers' annual tax bills won't change.
Think of it as a forced, interest-free loan: You'll be repaid any extra withholding in April. Those who would receive a refund anyway will receive a larger one, and those who owe taxes will owe less.

these are legitimate questions i think about as well. if i save my receipts from the collective, they can be used as a medical tax break. already looked into that one.

That is so California. They got themselves into this by refusing to face rampant spending, an illegal immigrant problem that is financially out of control and a broken tax system. The people putting up with this must be looking at brochures for Colorado and Nevada.

From the article:
In FEB, state income tax rates were bumped up0.25 percent for every tax bracket. The dependant credit was slashed by 2/3rds. The state sales tax went up 1%. The vehicle license fee nearly doubled.
How much more do they need? Better question is how much more will they let you loan them.

I would really love to hear a democrats point of view on this. Especially a California democrat. Do you think this is right? Should the government be able to decide that we should be required to loan these thieving bastards any money. AND should we be required to do it with out getting any interest?
I see this story has already had 17 vews. No one has anything to say about this I guess.According to the article This could go on for years. You better speak up now people of California. And people everywhere. Because when the politicians of the country see that no one in California or anywhere is else is speaking up this COULD be coming to your state next. I have a serious problem loaning money to people I dont trust.

It is the plan the lovely Repug Governator forced on us. Trust me, we're pissed and want his head. Lib's need to take back control of Cali again and start fixing his fuck-ups. And if the money was going towards something other then keeping prisoners the courts orderd him to release and giving his office pay rasies then maybe (highly unlikely though) we would be a little less pissed.

The Governor does not have the power you ascribe to him. In Cali the power is vested in the Democrat controlled legislature.

And they in turn will issue all you lucky californians an IOU next year when taxes returns are due. Must suck to be you. Now the government also decides when you get to make them loans too. Now dont bitch about it. I see you people saying all the time how you have no problems helping out someone when they need it and your state needs it. There are poor sick people in your state that need food clothing HEALTHCARE etc. It is time to step up to the plate and do your part. Shit man, I think you should give them more then they are even asking for to prove us all wrong here and show just how truly committed to helping the poor. Somehow I have a feeling none of you will do this.
