A SHOCKED mum woke her son up for school on Thursday - and discovered his ARM had been severed in the night. But amazingly the four-year-old boy - helped by his older brother - went to bed with his stump wrapped in a towel.
When his mother woke him up in the morning he said: "Sorry mum, I've gone and lost my arm. I didn't mean to."
An ambulance with a police escort raced the boy to a local hospital with the severed limb. But it was too late for surgeons to reattach it.
The boy is now recovering in hospital but is lucky to be alive.
Police spokesman Wolfgang Juergens said: "It is nothing short of a miracle that he didn't bleed to death in the night."
The accident happened when the boy and his 11-year-old brother played with an old washing machine in the kitchen at their home in the city of Ulm, southern Germany.
The appliance had been stripped down so the drum was exposed.
The pair switched it on and the boy's arm was caught between the revolving drum and the frame — before being ripped off.
But the older brother picked up the severed limb and put it in the family freezer.
Afraid to tell their mum what had happened, the boy astonishingly went to bed.
Police say an electrical defect meant that a sensor which should have not allowed the drum to spin while the front-loader's door was open was not working.

This kid MUST get beat. I hurt myself when I was six and my hips are slightly uneven as a result; my friends wanted to tell my mother and what did I say? "No, don't...she'll be angry with me." Only a child that gets licks on a regular says that!

That is one tough kid! Probably an even tougher mom though. So tough he didn't want to tell her he lost his limb!

I have some questions for the eleven year old? Although I am sure that he feels terrible, I would hope. But not notifying a responsible adult immediately deserves to be looked at by some authorities. Something about the this story just doesnt add up. Why would the children not tell their parents about what happened? How would the mother not know that her four year old was missing an arm when he went to bed? Where were the parents when this was happening?

Huh, kinda similar to how my friend burnt my arm at his place late one night, and we decided not to wake up his mom, so we put a wet cloth over that, and then we both went to sleep... his mom found out the next morning, and then my parents picked me up and took me to a hospital... second degree burns, you can hardly see the scars now.
All the same... Except this guy lost his arm permanently. Sorry to hear about the arm, but I *kinda* know what that's like.
