The key to fighting this, is to simply be less lazy with your food, try to eat fresh as much as you can, better still try to grow your own vegetables, ones which haven't been doused in monsanto pesticides.

I have been growing my own vegetables for years. If people knew what that greasy burger was doing to them, they might find the motivation to live a healthier life. But , I am fearful that many folks dont want to know the truth, and dont want to change because they are so unhappy with the world and their current state of affairs. You can live a better life, it has always been your choice.
Thanks so much for sharing this article. I welcome your thoughts on my blogTom Westervelt www.netsavymembers.com

I don't discount the study - I feel better when I eat better, too.
But there's probably also something to be said for the reverse - people who are depressed eat more processed foods.

This research is not definite. What I would like to do is read the actual publication so I can find the effect size, standard deviation, the methods, etc. What the article did not account to were genetics and mental health. Those two factors that they did not include are big contributors to depression.

Agreed. I don't doubt the health benefits of fresh produce and I can't comment on the quality of the study with looking at it. But looks like the article and video are trying to imply causation, while the study is mainly concerned with the correlation with the very broad category of processed foods.

artificial sweeteners, artificial fats, and artificial foods will never replace "REAL" food for health concerns,..these foods taht are processed w/ chemical concoctions as part of their wonderful recipes should always be considered equivalent to candy and of no health substance what so ever

Eating home grown food is extremely satisfying. At my house, we grow stuff we can use in salads.

I know I feel better when I eat healthy foods. When I do eat crap, I feel like crap.
