Why should he sue the police department for burns he sustained while trying to do something he was not equipped or trained to handle?

The issue is not, "the guy is suing for burns he attainted while doing something he was not equipped to do."

The issue is, "the guy is suing the police for not bringing him to the hospital to treat potentially serious injuries that he attained while doing something that he was not equipped to do."

Burns, even if they aren't that big or serious, can get infected and become much more troublesome. Also, after being in a burning house for any period of time, it is quite possible that this man could have suffered from smoke inhalation or carbon monoxide inhalation and should have been taken to the hospital to at least have his blood work checked, then been put on oxygen. If they were worried about escape they could easily have handcuffed him to the bed.

Yes I know. I'm a firefighter, it isn't the cops' job to take an injured person to the hospital: that's our job. His injuries, which could certainly include everything you mentioned, should be treated by Fire/EMS, which should have been on the way as soon as the fire was reported to ECOM. That is a separate issue.

It isnt a pigs place to tackle, taser, and arrest a person who is trying to help someone else. You dont have to have a badge and a gun to be heroic, 9 times out of 10 its the civilians who are the heroic ones, not the pigs.
