For £10 teenagers are given a t-shirt and free entry to bars and clubs, many of which offer cheap drinks.
For some it is harmless fun, but the president of the National Union of Students, Wes Streeting, told the BBC the pub crawls put students' welfare at risk.
He said: "It seems to me Carnage does what it says on the tin. It gets lots of students together in one place at one time to go on bar crawls which cause carnage in town centres up and down the country.
"This puts students' welfare at risk and leads to anti-social behaviour... when this happens it tends to be the students' union which gets it in the neck."
He said the object of the events seemed to be to drink as much as you could in the time allotted, and he urged local authorities to keep a tighter grip on activities.
Brighton Student Union president Naz Harrison told the BBC he was "very concerned" about the effect the events were having on people living in the town.
Do you think this company should have stricter regulations? how can a company who's job is to get student drunk out of their minds have regulations?
and second of all, why do (most) students (and people) feel like the only way they can have fun is by wrecking your liver while making an idiot out of yourself in the process, and spending pointless money on something you'll never see again, unless you throw it back up at the end of the night.

jclem and cynker, you're both so right, the government (and ignorant public at large) would still prefer to see alcohol legal over cannabis, based on their old prejudices against the drug, which prevents them from seeing the real harm alcohol brings compared to the lack of harm with cannabis.
people say cannabis is a gateway drug, but I think if people are going to try a few types of drugs, then that's what they're going to do whether they've tried cannabis or not, personally i wouldnt mind if alcohol was banned, aslong as it was replaced with cannabis.
What would you prefer, a nation drunk or a nation stoned?
But if we were to legalise cannabis, then we should be able to grow our own, and then utilise hemp for our many basic daily needs, like clothing and oil etc. - 2 years ago

all nightclubs break the law by serving intoxicated people which is illegal.
the government are backward so dont expect a decent resolution, i mean they say cannabis is worse for our morality then this^?

The guy who runs it in Portsmouth is a complete idiot and I'm guessing most of the people involved are. Considering the Police are meant to be cracking down on binge drinking nights like this should be he first to be banned.
