Boehner: 'Rebellion' occurring in U.S.

Boehner, who spoke at the rally, made the comment during an online town hall being put on by the Republican National Committee.
“I do think there is a rebellion going on in this country,” Boehner said. “How else could you get 10,000 people to show up with only a few days notice?”
“What they are saying is ‘enough, is enough,’” he continued. “There are tens of thousands of Americans who have come to Washington to say they don’t want Pelosi-care.”
Boehner was a second-term congressman in 1994 when the GOP swept to power in the Republican Revolution. Comparing the current political climate with what he saw then, Boehner said that Democrats in the House and Senate are “far more liberal” now, leading to a stronger counteraction from the conservative grassroots.
“The intensity I saw leading up to 1994 wasn’t one-one-hundredth of what I’m seeing today,” he said. “When America speaks up, Washington listens. And we need your help.”
During his remarks to Thursday’s rally, Boehner rallied the crowd by cheering the “town hall rebellion” that took August against the Democratic health care plan.
“It was a simple statement by Americans that they love their country, they love our way of life, they love the things that America stands for – prosperity, liberty and freedom – and they want nothing more to hand freedom off to their kids and to their grandkids,” he said.
Holding a copy of the Constitution, Boehner implored the crowd to “join us in saying no to a government takeover of health care.”
“Join us in rejecting higher taxes and more deficits,” he continued. “Join us in defending our freedom. And join us in defeating Pelosi-care.”

Double speak = Republicans out for rebellion. Watch "Capitalism, a love story" With the exception of the Obama crap, it's a good place to start to see who to put the cross-hairs on. Oh, yeah, I still think Clinton was the best Republican president since Jimmy Carter. Those southern boys, have almost got past the part that Lincoln was a Republican.

It is possible this fruit loop is the corner stone of a deeper problem . An idea . An idea that is hard to kill . The reason why these people did not show up to stop "shock and awe" and other atrocities , is because they are caught up in a cult of aggression . They were probably too thrilled . They believe bully tactics are the "right" way to solve problems . Fox news , among others , has shown them the way . Not listening to all sides of the situation , not by reason , logic or compassion , by sheer force or volume if that isn't handy . They do not want dialogue . They will try to roll over the opposition , and they will keep trying until they get what they want . I believe in free speech . If i am willing to say something , I has better be able to take the flack for being vocal . So had they . If you disagree with them , let them know . Relentlessly . Do not fund them ever . Anyone connected , either .

We need to start over with a few good people with some integrity and term limits so not to become implanted into the seat or life in politics as to allow them to start taking bribes or money for favors in the first place. They need to have jobs other than this because congress is not a full time position. We just reward them way too much money that it looks like a full time salary. Not to mention all the redundant perks!

What I need to ask is, when I made reference to the parties, did you think I meant the two that have the majority of the power, or all parties which mostly includes third parties? How many developed nations other than our own have a system that is dominated by two parties or less?
I think we need to have the power more evenly distributed to third parties, hopefully to encourage more ideas as well as a better ability to find a compromise rather than this ideology that you are either with me or you are an enemy who must be destroyed.

If you think these tea parties are a bunch of old rich self centered idiots, you are wrong. If you think they are the minority, you are wrong. They are just simply business owners. Not every business is walmart. These are you mom and pop shop owners, you small town factory owners, and even you everyday babysitters.
If you think Fox is a bunch of liars go watch CNN and after watching there report on one of these Tea parties you actually go to one, you will see that they tape a few idiots that happen to go and make it look like the whole Tea Party is built of idiots.
You are getting played from 2 sides and don't even realize it.
He is right, a rebellion is happening. And a rebellion doesn't have to be the majority, although in this case I believe it is.
If you think this a few thousand old timers that think only for themselves, you really need to do a little more research and check everything you read and hear and form your own opinions because of it. Fox lies, CNN lies, and the Government lies.

Belief: the feeling of being certain that something exists or is true absent empirical evidence
Business Week: Posted by: Cathy Arnst on September 29
The public’s support for health care reform is rising after a summer slide, according to the latest tracking poll from the non-profit Kaiser Family Foundation. The poll, released today, found that 57% of Americans now believe tackling health care reform is more important than ever, compared with 53% in August.
Not sure how you can parse a 'majority' out of that unless you have redefined the definition of per cent to mean out of 120.
But keep on 'beleiving'.

As long as the Americans get their information from irresponsible media, they will be ignorant. Make the Media honest please. And TJ is one of my heroes.
If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." (as cited in Padover, 1939, p. 89)
". . . whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that, whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them right." (as cited in Padover, 1939, p. 88)
Jefferson felt so strongly about education that he, as a strict constitutional constructionist, submitted to congress an amendment to the constitution to legalize federal support for education in his State of the Union Address, December 2, 1806. "Education is here placed among the articles of public care. . . " (Honeywell, 1964, p. 63).
Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories. And to render even them safe, their minds must be improved to a certain degree. . . . An amendment to our constitution must here come in aid of the public education. The influence over government must be shared among all people. (as cited in Padover, 1939, p. 87)
Is this socialism? Maybe a little. How about our interstate system of highways?
How about our fire department?, Police?.

I live in Maryland, a mere 20 miles from DC. A young lady, a friend of the family, is living with us until December. She is an intern with a midwestern senator. Her office is near Lieberman's and she witnessed the arrests .
She said the media's accounts of numbers was grossly exaggerated - there weren't more than a couple hundred that got bussed in. They kept moving them around for the benefit of the cameras.

If these people were serious about fiscal responsibility they would have been protesting a lot of the Bush Administrations policies as well. What about Medicare Part D which didn't allow the government to negotiate the prices for pharmaceuticals? What about the Iraq war? What about the 90% of the deficit that was caused by the Bush Administration? That's why everything they are doing and saying is suspect, and conveniently in lock-step with protecting the bottom lines of the Insurance and Pharmaceutical companies. You can trace all their talking points back to conservative think tanks (whose funding you can directly trace back to corporate interests) and lobbyists. The fact that they claim that this is a "peoples" movement is laughable. Brainwashed people maybe.
Most of the things that are going wrong in this bill are concessions that were made to the Blue Dogs who were influenced by those special interests groups and the Republicans, who were not seeking a bi-partisan bill at all but to water down the bill as much as possible and still not vote for it.
The insurance companies are the real problem here, not government. Corporate greed is much more dangerous to this country than wasteful bureaucracy. I would rather tax dollars go into a slightly redundant government workers pocket than into some some disgustingly wealthy CEOs gold plated fish hooks on his back up yacht.
These illiterate morons claim that this is going to hurt the economy and their pocketbooks, and raise their taxes... but HELLO! Bush has done that already, and the Insurance companies are already hurting your pocketbooks and bankrupting the economy.
People can hate on Obama all they want, but all I know is that he is attempting make healthcare affordable for me, whereas the Republicans are trying to stop it, and keep things the way they are, which is healthcare I can't afford! Why can I not afford it? Because I finished my six year enlistment in the Navy and am now a full time student, trying to develop the skills to contribute to society, but if I get hurt or sick I will lose everything...EVERYTHING, and the Republicans don't care. They can all burn in hell, along with their brainwashed illiterate followers.

Well, in theory we elect and pay these people so we don't have to read these bills in their entirety, but I understand your point. As far as actually knowing what is going on, I am slightly more informed than your average "Tea Party" protester, especially considering that as I received your response I was in the process of doing research into lobbyists and special interests who are influencing the health debate. I do feel that Obama really does want health reform to work, and actually work for "the people" because it will benefit him and his reelection bid in 2012. Like I said in my post, most of the things that are wrong with the bill are concessions that he and other legislators had to make to get big pharma and groups like the AARP on board with reform in the first place, but thats politicians for you, making deals here and there in order to compromise. Unfortunately it seems that people like Joe Lieberman and Billy Tauzin and the majority of Republicans don't want to block reform because they are "fiscally responsible" but because the insurance companies, lobbyists etc. are feeding them campaign contributions and trying to get them to water down the bills as much as possible. I'm not saying the Democrats are angels, but I believe that even if they are self-motivated they realize that passing real workable health reform that even works a little will give them more political clout and weaken the right, and that sounds like a win for all of us, or at least my progressive friends and I who may be able to afford health insurance.

The bottom line is that the Government take over of healthcare sucks. The American people by and large think it sucks. All the polls show it sucks. The 20,000 who showed up at the capitol think it sucks. So yeah, Boehner is correct. The majority of Americans are rebelling against the Government take over of our healthcare. The idea sucks. Pretty obvious by now.
